Rent-A-Smile Takes Annoying Tasks Off Your Hands

The virtual personal assistant service Rent-A-Smile promises to take annoying tasks like scheduling doctor's appointments and making travel arrangements off your hands, freeing you up for work and fun stuff. The service is divided into two categories, Business or Personal, with business assistance charged hourly and personal assistance billed per request. On the business side they can help you with everything from answering emails to doing internet research to putting together a powerpoint presentation and on the personal side they do things like making restaurant reservations, scheduling tee times, and paying bills. The only catch to the service is that it is a 'virtual' assistant so although there are real people on the other end assisting you everything has to be done over the phone or internet, so for example they can't go pick up your dry cleaning for you (although they could find somebody else who could).
Prices vary depending on which plan you choose and how often you use the service but they start at about $10/hour for Business Assistance and $35/30 requests per month for Personal Assistance.

Kind of sounds like a Bruce Willis movie called "Surrogates" that I saw... nobody ever went out... everyone had a lookalike robot that went into the outside world for them, while all the humans stayed home 24/7....... is that where all the technology is taking us?

Has the world really gotten this lazy??????
Karen Sep 6th 2010 12:27AM
It's not about being lazy, this is for those of us who work 10-11 hr days and have a busy family life on the week-ends.

I'm not giving out MY personal information to a virtual somebody that I don't know!!! Thanx but I'll do it myself!

I had seen this blog entry and signed up for their service. Loving it so far. These guys are quite flexible and good at what they do!

My friend referred me to them - they apparently have a referral policy where you can get the service for free for every 3 people referred. Anyways, so far I have used them for the following tasks:-
1) Got them to clean up my contacts file which has 10,000+ contacts and upload it on their portal - they were very quick to do it.
2) Asked them to order groceries for me online every 15 days - will be keeping a tab on their diligence
3) Had them speak to my credit card company about a disputed transaction and patch me in for 2 mins to confirm things were clear - they did a good job and I didn't need to add anything.
4) Got them to cancel my subscription to the Economist
So far, loving the service as it's allowing me to spend more time with my family. My wife thinks I suddenly have a special assistant for such chores! ;-)

I'm totally agree with KAREN. The services offered by http://rentasmile.com is Great and too much useful to the persons having tough Schedules in daily life. I personally took the services to manage my daily little but un-avoidable personal requirements. now Im very happy with both of my Professional & Personal life. Rent A Smile really removed my tensions for those works which I usually can-not complete due to lack of time.

This concept almost sounds too good to be true. Kinda like futuristic living. Or perhaps back to ancient times, when there were stories of a genie to do all you want?

I for one, found their business assistance service to be of interest. I operate an online store and we get most of our business during this festive season. Always need some extra help at this time and I find it quite useful that they provide specialized assistance on an “on demand” basis. That too, without any commitment or contract.

I love the fact they work 24/7 and I can get assistance whenever I want. Whether during business hours or after hours support. At the end of my business day, I sent them a few calls to analyze and report on. By the time I got up the next morning and checked my email, the report was already in my inbox.
