Max Weinberg in the Hollywood Hills, Estate of the Day

Drummer Max Weinberg (he was part of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band and was the bandleader on the Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien) and his wife Rebecca are serial house flippers. The Real Estalker recently reported that their latest shot at a quick real estate gain is a contemporary home in Hollywood Hills. The pair bought the home in 2009 from director Stephen Gyllenhaal and screenwriter Naomi Forner, the parents of Maggie and Jake Gyllenhaal. They put the home on the market in 2008 for $4.2 million but after a few price cuts it later sold to the Weinbergs for $2.88 million.
The charming home on the famously twisty Mulholland Drive is at the end of a long private driveway and sits on nearly an acre. The five-bedroom home was built in 1953 and has great mid-century modern lines with walls of glass, an open floor plan and a sharp, angular appeal. The kitchen has stainless counters and Miele appliances and flows into the large living room with 14' ceilings and fireplace. The master bathroom has dual custom-poured concrete vanities and wood floors. The property also has a two-bedroom guest house and a swimming pool with views of the Los Angeles skyline. One of the Real Estalker's commenters toured the home and dished on it, including the fact that the master bath serves as the home's public powder room and that the bedrooms are fairly small. This home is now listed at $3.399 million.

I know this house and it's not exactly on a private driveway, you share the driveway with a neighbor. The driveway is long but the house is very near the road. In addition it's right at the head of Runyon Canyon and next to the parking lot. The area can be jammed with cars trying to park all over the place especially on weekends. It gets dusty (and hot) around there in the summer.
Very nice house (I personally like moderns) and tastefully done. But for that kind of money I'd pick a better location. Location, location.
