Wiesmann MF5 in Jeopardy Due to Discontinued BMW Engine

Sad as we are to see the BMW M5 and M6 lose their high-revving, award-winning V10 engine, the real casualty could be felt by another automaker altogether. The Wiesmann MF5 – a deliciously retro niche-market roadster – borrows its ten-cylinder engine from its Bavarian counterpart, but with the next generation of M models switching from the gas-guzzling V10 to a more economical twin-turbo V8, Wiesmann may be forced to change its production as well.
For its part, Wiesmann says it will continue producing the MF5, but just what engine will lie under the hood remains to be seen. One way or another, we'll surely miss the current MF5 as much as we will the outgoing BMW M5 and M6.
