Ferrari 250 GTO Evocazione at Brooklands Auction

Maybe in a perfect world we could all get our hands on an original Ferrari 250 GTO. Or maybe that would just spoil everything that makes the highly sought-after classic so special. Whichever way you look at it, $18 million is more money than most of us will ever see in our lives. And that's how much an original GTO was estimated to have traded for the last time one sold.
Call this, then, the next best thing. It's a replica, but it's not quite a fake. The owner started with an original Ferrari 330 GT and had it modified to resemble a GTO – specifically the only right-hand drive 4-liter V12 model Ferrari made to compete at Le Mans. Now it's due to cross the auction block on September 25 by Historics at Brooklands in England, where it's expected to fetch a more modest £240,000 ($377,000).

As I remember Chinetti sold them for about $ 12,750 in 1964, first wide wire wheels were on this model, I preferred the Gold color exterior, last one I saw was in Aspen in 1965..........still had the Chinetti price sticker taped to the left rear window ! It was a lovely and striking race car, this is long before the aerodynamic
engineers took over the bodywork. Yes, of course now they are investments
and the spirit of the time is captured in this model, the Ferrari GTO ! Thanks to
FIA for the Classification and the name GTO ! ! ! In 1965 they were replaced by the rear engine car.........not nearly as alluring in style in appearance.
