Jewelry Company Plans New Shopping Channel

A new home shopping network is set to launch this fall. National Jeweler reports that jewelry design and development agency Zalemark Holding Co. has picked up the remaining assets of bankrupt multimedia retailer Gems TV. The company expects to close on the purchase soon and on September 1 wants to launch LuxTV which will sell mainly Zalemark brands including Demeter, Steven Zale Beverly Hills, B. Smith and Paris Blues as well as other jewelry lines on air and over the internet. Prices will start around $79.

LuxTV Inc. will run the marketing and operations of LuxTV out of Gems TV's former headquarters in Reno, Nevada and the network will reach around 40 million households through distribution on the Dish Network, DIRECTV and cable stations. The National Jeweler article says that the new channel will target the Hispanic consumer which is interested in buying known jewelry brands but at a lower price. Next year, LuxTV plans to move into shoes, handbags and other accessories, focusing on on celebrity-endorsed lines. The station will also have special sales with celebrity/designer guest hosts to benefit the charity Operation Smile, a children's charity that treats deformities such as cleft lip and cleft palate worldwide. Zalemark has supported Operation Smile in the past raffling off jewelry to raise money for the charity.
