Rush Limbaugh Unloads NYC Penthouse for $11.5 Million

Back in March we reported that larger-than-life conservative commentator Rush Limbaugh had listed his pre-war Fifth Avenue penthouse for sale at $13.95 million after vowing to leave New York City. Following a $1 million price cut a month or so later, he has now found a buyer for the overdecorated spread who is shelling out about $11.5 million, according to the Wall St. Journal. The 20th-floor penthouse (above) at 1049 Fifth Avenue, which Limbaugh purchased in 1994, features 10 rooms with expansive Central Park and Reservoir views and four terraces, two of which face the park.

There's a double living room with a fireplace, a wood paneled library, large media room with a terrace, a kitchen with a breakfast room, a large dining room with two terraces, four bedrooms with en-suite baths, and his-and-hers dressing rooms and baths, each with an oversized tub and stall shower. There are hand painted mural ceilings and walls throughout by artist Richard Smith and gold leaf moldings. The foyer entry floor is patterned Italian hand-cut marble with herringbone mahogany in the uncarpeted rooms, and walls are upholstered in Fortuny fabric. There's also a separate maid's room with bath on the third floor.

Nice place, great view and all in the heart of the city.
I hope he enjoyed it.
I hope he made a profit.
He is smart to get out from under it now before the rest falls upon us in the years to come.
This is an example for many, unload the unnecessary, take the money and run....

julie, julie...you hate all those conservative people you listed not because of the things you accused them of saying or doing, but because you hold strong liberal, anti capitalist, anti business views. in america there have always been people that don't agree with the founders concept of free markets, liberty and self reliance and up to now they have not held much power (excepting fdr administration) but now we have obama and people with your viewpoint feel empowered and are frustrated with obama's and his progressive allies in congress inability to take us solidly to socialism in a year.these radical moves to the left have traditionally been followed by several years of traditional conservative govts.btw look at the comments by the liberals on this website then tell me how tolerant you lefties are

I guess 11.5 million is the going rate for lies, fear mongering and being nasty and jewing up people into a panic with lies . Good for him now he can report that the housing market is going up ;)

I don't hate this man, but it does sicken me when he tells his lies to create fear and hate so he can better his own wallet. I do hope the IRS does a good xheck oin his tax records, I wouldn't be shocked if he was hiding most of his money in a off shore bank account..

HEY AMERICA!!!!! I like Rush. I've been listening to him for years. As a black republican from the South Side of Chicago, I caught a lot of hell as a Limbaugh supporter. Now, that apartment? Rush should allow me to sue his designer for him. Man! What a mess!!!! I have several condos in prominent Chicago landmark buildings. My wife and I did the design work and won several awards!!!!! Rush just threw his money away!!! Taxes should not run Rush out of New York. He can always incorporate himself in Nevada. Nevada does not share income information with the IRS. Rush! Where are all of your well-paid consultants? THEY SHOULD BE FIRED!!! GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!

Rush is not the only VERY wealthy person to leave New Yuk, but just the most spoken about. New Yuk is just a lousy place to live. Dirty, filthy and crumbling streets, MILLIONS of social parasites. (Yeah, millions. NOT an exxageration) By the cities own estimates, 34% of the 8 million "living" here are on some type of public assistance. What a dump.

I happen to love Rush Limbaugh. I listen to him every chance I get. I don't always agree with him 100 %, but I respect this man. Where did I say I didn't like him and where did I say anything about taxes. I pay my taxes and I am sure he pays a hefty sum of taxes.
