Rush Limbaugh Unloads NYC Penthouse for $11.5 Million

Back in March we reported that larger-than-life conservative commentator Rush Limbaugh had listed his pre-war Fifth Avenue penthouse for sale at $13.95 million after vowing to leave New York City. Following a $1 million price cut a month or so later, he has now found a buyer for the overdecorated spread who is shelling out about $11.5 million, according to the Wall St. Journal. The 20th-floor penthouse (above) at 1049 Fifth Avenue, which Limbaugh purchased in 1994, features 10 rooms with expansive Central Park and Reservoir views and four terraces, two of which face the park.
There's a double living room with a fireplace, a wood paneled library, large media room with a terrace, a kitchen with a breakfast room, a large dining room with two terraces, four bedrooms with en-suite baths, and his-and-hers dressing rooms and baths, each with an oversized tub and stall shower. There are hand painted mural ceilings and walls throughout by artist Richard Smith and gold leaf moldings. The foyer entry floor is patterned Italian hand-cut marble with herringbone mahogany in the uncarpeted rooms, and walls are upholstered in Fortuny fabric. There's also a separate maid's room with bath on the third floor.

This place certainly shows us Rush's feminie side. Frankly, I'm kinda impressed. He should just come out. It's not just gonna go away, Rush. The sad thing is, he got married again, never totally realizing the reasons for the other failed marriages

TACKY-GAWDY-DOWN RIGHT UGLY PLACE FOR ANYTHING BUT THE RATS OF NEW YORK. TOO BAD RUSH HAS TO MOVE TO A PLACE CALLED "PALM BEACH". HE IS SUCH A MEGLAMANIAC!! BUT HEY HIS GREEN BACKS SPEND AS EASY AS THE NEXT GUY ON THE STREET.

I love Rash and would live with him in that nasty appartment listening his crap on regular basis. I am middle-aged republican gay man from rural Texas (very spiritual and value-oriented)
God bless you Rash and Vicodin which keeps you going
Love ....

It's Rush...

what's with all the gay stuff from the liberal rush haters? i thought you were the tolerant open minded ones. funny how liberals hate someone who talks up hard work and self reliance like rush and loves the people that talk up taking away from those that earn it and give it to those who don't. makes the liberals look a little weak and insecure to me. european socialism is just not for me but i guess the weak and lazy have a right to voice their opinion too.

Liberals ARE more tolerant. They dislike Rush because he's a racist woman-dissing prick. Same reason we hate Ann Coulter. She's openly insulted Jews, Muslims, gays, 9-11 widows (I still can't believe that c*nt got away with that), single moms, and the list goes on. Too much hate for one person, too much hate for the liberals.
If you choose to dislike these groups of people, all the best to you in life.

I can not imagine why a ultra conservative redneck would want anything in NYC. Isn't that where all the Yankies live? Rush is a crazy fool who is going to have to live with his mouth the rest of his life. Think about what God is going to say about his ugliness.
debraalan Jul 12th 2010 11:17PM
That sounded like an ugly comment.
laontour Jul 12th 2010 11:08PM
Wow what views! However the Trompe l'oeil is a bit much on the ceilings and bedroom wall. I understand he likes the beach/Florida but the lady from Designed To Sell would have a fit. Someone will be hiring painters that is for sure. So see... Rush moving is providing jobs!
Tim Orris Jul 12th 2010 11:11PM
It is worth the lower price just to get away from New York city and state income tax. Smart move Rush
greysentinei75z Jul 12th 2010 11:47PM
Good for Rush - capitalism at its finest. Seller and buyer come
together - haggle haggle haggle - then agree! So cool! Way to
demonstrate how capitalism works, Rush! You libs got that??
michael Jul 12th 2010 11:55PM
He bought it in 1994. He made money on it. Good for him; the American way. If people do not like our way of life there is always Cuba just 95 miles away from Key West, where a woman can get an abortion faster than she can find and purchase a whole chicken in the market.
mlbthree Jul 12th 2010 11:55PM
GOOD RIDDANCE TO BAD TRASH. BUH BYE, RUSH. WE WON'T MISS YOU UP HERE.
Rose Jul 12th 2010 11:59PM
You either like Rush or you don't. Me personally, I can't stand him....don't like the apartment either and not because I don't care for Rush Limbaugh....looks too gaudy for my taste.
Jerry W. Anderson Jul 13th 2010 12:03AM
The writer just had to put a negative in the article by saying overdecorated. I thought it was very elegant. I didn't see anything that looked gay either. Gee, what a stupid thing to say. He is a smart man to move out of a over taxed liberal state. I hear a lot of jealousy over his success. He made it honestly, he found a place for himself and he worked on it. He didn't start rich, he got it the old fashion American way he earned it. It doesn't matter if he is a conservative or a democrat, he earned what he has without government handout.
Jerry W. Anderson Jul 13th 2010 12:06AM
I am not Jerry W. Anderson, don't know why that name is up there. Won't use this computer anymore.
farmer0904 Jul 13th 2010 11:07AM
most people like him and you doesnt like to pay their taxes we know so shut up
Tenderloin Jul 13th 2010 12:10AM
Cut in price? Yes Rush wants to get out before the new tax increases.
BTW AOL. How about reporting what Rush paid for the condo? A few million in profit...not chump change, But that detracts from the anti Rush slant to the headline.
