Lucille Ball's Rolls-Royce Up For Auction

Lucille Balls' Rolls Royce will hit the market later this month at a Heritage Auction Galleries event in Beverly Hills, California. The 1984 Rolls Royce Silver Spur sedan was owned and driven by the "I Love Lucy" television star and her second husband, Gary Morton. Love letters from Lucy to Gary, her address book and other personal items owned by the beloved actress will be offered on July 17, 2010. The car has a white finish with a tan vinyl hard-top and the odometer shows 21,260 miles. Other items include Ball's personal address book with listings for phone numbers for famous celebrities of the era including Steve Allen, Jack Benny, Edgar Bergen, Milton Berle, Gypsy Rose Lee, Dean Martin, Ethel Merman and Edward G. Robinson as well as her former husband, Desi Arnaz, and her television show co-stars, Vivian Vance and Gale Gordon. The items were consigned by Morton's third wife, former professional golfer Susie (McAllister) Morton who married him in 1996, seven years after Ball died.
Susie has lived with these relics of Lucy and Gary's life for more than 10 years and kept them out of respect for her late husband and Lucy's amazing legacy. Now she's ready to part with these treasures as she remodels her house to make it completely her own," said Doug Norwine of Heritage.
The Rolls has an opening bid of $25,000 and could sell for over $50,000.

Lucille Ball was a bitch who demanded her co star "Ethel" be at least 20 lbs heavier..

Gee---whether she was a B**** or not--does it matter at this juncture? I would think that maybe her daughter or son would want to have the car.....or buy it or whateva. And much is to be said for the grand lady who did in fact respect her husband's feelings on his previous wife. It really is her call......and kudos to her!

Want a shocker? Ask the old timers who live in Jamestown, N.Y.. Her past life
story when she lived there would make a fabulous movie. Owner of the movie house said he would burn down the building before he would show the premier
of "The Long Trailer" one of her movies. Her gangster boyfriend financed her
trip to New York to fill her dream of being a dancer/actress. She made it there
other wise she was to come back to him. Jamestown is a great but a little different town---half Italian and half Swedish .. I loved it, especially Lake
Chautaqua And the Hotel Jamestown really misses her.

She may have been a "bitch-on-wheels," but she made a lot of money. Low milage on this Rolls. It would be a bargain at the starting price and interesting to see what it realizes at auction. Who cares who drove it, it is like new.
Her children? They have so much money they can buy any car they want like the new Bentley.

I loved the I Love Lucy show and I also loved her!! Everyone has to remember that everyone has skeletons in there closets and she did what she had to do to become famous and make money. We were in CA. once and my only regret is that I never met Lucy, I would love to have something of hers that she had and loved, I would treasure it for life. I LOVE LUCY!!!!
As far as the children wanting her car, you can only hold on to items for so long. I have tons of my Moms things and its time to let them go and move on.

Read Atlas Shrugged. About what we are seeing with the government and
our country. Written by a Russian escapee in the 1950's about what
would happen in the U.S. if the left ever got enough money and power.
Very revealing and sobering. Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand used to be
required reading in high schools and colleges around the nation. Now
they are trying to get it banned. What does the left have to hide?
Find out, read the book. They are and will ruin our economy and way
of life.

Why don't you take your political views and put them where someone gives a rip. These columns are for specific subjects that some might find interesting, not to provide a bully pulpit for ranting idiots.

Surprisingly enough these older RR don't go for that much. I've seen a number of these sold at estate sales in Beverly Hills and most do not even bring $25,000. And who knows if Lucy ever drove this car. Apparently Gary Morton owned the car if his 3rd wife ended up with it. These older model RR's also had lots of very expensive mechanical problems. The car realisticly is not worth $25,000 without documentation and pictures of Lucy driving it. I would enjoy being at the auction to see what other items Mrs Morton is auctioning.

I have seen on the news thay Lucy's daughter has tried to stop this auction, because she wants, her mother's personal things, but the judge ,said to go ahead and let this Morten; 3rd. wife action the things off,I think it is a bad that Lucy,'s girl can not get her mothers personal stuff. The law is bad these days.
