Rolls-Royce Riding Ghost Wave to Massive Sales Increase

Rolls-Royce is reporting sales of 678 automobiles through the first five months of 2010. Although that might not sound like a lot of vehicles at first blush, it represents a 146-percent increase over the same period a year ago. Company head Torsten Müller-Ötvös expects sales to continue in their upward path throughout the remainder of the year, saying that the automaker will post figures "at least double the volume of last year."
While the slight uptick in the global economy may have something to do with the sales resurgence, the real driving force behind the increase is the new Ghost model for 2010. With a base price of around $250,000, the Ghost represents a substantial savings over the revered Phantom, which starts at some $380,000 and quickly rises from there. And while the Ghost may be less expensive than its big brother, there's no doubt that it is every bit the exclusive luxury ride that its new owners will expect.

It's great to see that the ultra rich aren't suffering.

These are some of the most important sentences you'll ever read and words Osama Bin Biden can’t begin to comprehend:
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation.
5. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.

I'm sorry, but it is the ultra rich that the Republicans want to give more tax cuts to that are buying them. Nice try though.
Vaughn Gale Jun 6th 2010 9:52AM
These goods are being purchased by THE RICH who were the ONLY ONES who BENEFITED from BUSH'S ECONOMIC POLICIES. Remember the TAX CUTS? Well now you see what they are being used for. The RICH FOLKS were only concerned about a DEPRESSION and now that the coast seems to be clear THEY'RE SPENDING. Don't get mad at OBAMA because you voted with people who you most likely HAD NOTHING IN COMMON WITH FROM A FINANCIAL STANDPOINT.

This is my crusade against the destruction of the American middle class.
Everyday, we are asked to give to save our "economy". But was that you or I that was helped? The media wants you to think so. But in actuality, it was the top 10% of our society that benefited from the bailouts the most.
It is very disgusting to watch them now reap billions in profits from our tax dollars all the while unemployment creeps towards 10%. If you want to get some of that money back or just learn how to make money in the market like the rich do...read on...if you like being poor and giving your money to the rich...then stop reading here.
GOOGLE "SLICK BUDGET" One word or two...does not matter AND CLICK THE FIRST LINK...it will have the same name and hook you up with some serious good things.
Go and check out the "PENNY STOCKS" and "LOANS" sections for some great info the rich don't want you to know.

Steve Jun 6th 2010 1:23PM
Like insider traders and those in latency arbitrage who get advanced information about trades then skim off the money before the trade? Hey, open your eyes, these fat cats are mostly republicans under deregulation and the end of usury limits. We got screwed for 8 years, mostly quietly and under the table.
Dana Jun 5th 2010 7:51PM
I became rich by hard work, I was much happier then , I have everything and every crook wants to take it now . From scams on my parents by finincial people and cops jealous over the old vette and new car / home , Makes me just want to sell it all and bury the money (in gold? or bamma bucks!) and get a trailer somewhere again .

Many of the Baby Boomers are turning 50, 60, and 65. They are retiring and wanting to spend their fortune on toys for themselves. This Babyboomer Generation went through the largest upswing in the market (1983 - 2007) in the history of man! You just needed to get your college degree in 1983, and a decent job, to be a millionaire today. In fact, from 1995 to 2000, you would have to look hard to NOT see a "10 bagger" going on in the Stock Market! (A 10 bagger is: you invest $1000 and get $10,000 back). If you are a Baby Boomer, and you are not worth at least a few $100,000... It's your own damn fault.
diplobrat Jun 6th 2010 12:31AM
Yo! How's that whole 'trickle down' economy workin' out for ya? Reagonimics? "Let them eat cake!" Time to sharpen the pitchforks!
Dave Mielke Jun 6th 2010 12:49AM
Doesn't anybody read? 678 cars in the WORLD, not to US Republicans or Democrats. Rich Arabs and dictators of small countries all qualify. Wealthy Asians and Euroipeans qualify. 678 cars in a world of 6+ billion people. Not a significant social or political statement, just good news for a small car company and 678 customers.
Gary Jun 6th 2010 7:01AM
What a delightful common sense answer. Everyone else tries to analyze this uptick in RR car sales as the great class struggle.
By the way, I am one of the "rich" people who are being targeted by the currrent administration to "share the wealth". Franky the only way I could afford one of these automobiles is if I sold my house. Rest assured that making 250K a year does not make you "rich". It merely makes you successful, and the thirteen people I employ in my small business, who are all making between 35K and 65K are very happy for me. They know that their jobs exist because I get out of bed every morning to come into work to keep the business going.
roadwarrior Jun 6th 2010 6:42AM
It the ulta poor that are sucking the hard working dry.
roadwarrior Jun 6th 2010 6:43AM
Finally some one that knows where to put the blame.
I retired 5 years ago, I am 60 now and enjoy my life that I worked hard for back then. Now Obama wants to take it all away and give it to the one that don't and didn't.
rivrson Jun 6th 2010 11:33PM
That's a crock, roadwarrior, and fairly typical of Republicans. I'm 64 and retired at 61, and I'm very well off. I also busted my but and worked hard all of my life, but I am the first to admit that I had all the advantages of being a white man in a white man's world. I also had a lot of help and support along the way, by a fine education that my parents paid for, by banks who were willing to finance me, by a network dominated by white males, and perhaps more than anything by the people that worked for me. Without them, I never would have made a dime. The vast majority of people who end up being financially successful come from the white collar, white middle class, have a family that gave them a lot of support as they were growing up and were able to send them to a decent school for a good education. Next in line are white, entraprenurial blue collar guys with a good high school education who also had the benefit of a network dominated by white males, and were able to borrow money. There are so many people who bust their buts all their lives and have little access to education, money to finance a business, or a network of established people and businesses that they can do business with. Anyone in business knows how important that is. You do business with friends, people you know in business, and poor people know no one in business and have no idea what business is about. Minority poor people are screwed blued and tatooed baby. Most of em haven't got a chance in hell. The ones that make it out are the lucky few, and also a few who are so brilliant nothing could stop them, not even the white male establishment. The lucky few! That's one thing I forgot about becoming successful...LUCK. Any successful person who doesn't acknowledge the luck he had along the way, is either blind or has an ego that won't let him.
