Anne Rice In Rancho Mirage, Estate of the Day

We've chronicled author Anne Rice's residences several times before. Now Rice, who has switched from writing vampire and witchcraft novels to working on books on Christianity and penning a spiritual memoir, has put her Rancho Mirage, California home on the market.
The LA Times Hot Properties reports that Rice wrote her last three books in the house which was built in 1995. The home is in a gated community and is on more than an acre that includes a pool, waterfall and a detached two-bedroom guest house with a kitchen and living room. The main house has six bedrooms and maid's quarters. The listing says that Rice did her writing in the multi-room master wing. Listing pictures reveal many colorful paintings, perhaps some painted by Rice's late husband, Stan. Images also show Rice's doll collection and plenty of bookshelves. This home is listed at $3.3 million.

Who in their right mind would NEED such a big estate like that? Does she have a family or did she live there by herself? That estate is the kind of place that most people dream of "visiting" but would never want to actually live there unless the place comes with a complete STAFF - - - gardener, landscaper, pool person, chef, secretary, etc.

I expected better than that, maybe something more gothique or victorian. But almost all the rooms looks like lobbys from Comfort Inn.

I'd take it. Now only have to hit the lottery. Well done Ms. Rice, I can only say you certainty earned it and enjoy, I know I would.

I have never read her books, but I do have an opinion on her home. Strange - the decor and house come off as a poorly decorated mini hotel. Ye, the vacuum marks bugged me too.

THAT HOUSE HAS NO CHARACTER OR WARMTH, IT LOOKS MORE LIKE A FURNITURE STORE.AND SORRY ANNE BUT IN THIS LAGGING REAL ESTATE MARKET, YOU HAVE A BETTER CHANCE OF LESTAT COMING TO VISIT YOU, THAN GETTING 3PLUS MILLONS FOR THAT HOUSE.lol

I believe she moved to Calif.to be near her son.I see a painting in her bedroom.I wonder if that is her late daughter who died as a child?

Yeah that house really pales compared to Rosegate. Lowered living rooms are not my idea of luxury.
