Kate Walsh in Los Feliz, Estate of the Day

We first learned that "Private Practice" actress Kate Walsh had listed her home in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles back in February from the Real Estalker but it looks like there's been a price change which is a great excuse to take a more detailed look. Walsh recently extricated herself from a 14-month marriage. She and her husband bought the four-bedroom home for $4.75 million in 2007 so they are clearly breaking the rule I was raised with which is that you have to sit on any property for five years.
The Spanish-style house was built in 1928 and was remodeled by a real estate investor who bought it for $2.9 million in 2006 before flipping to Walsh. The home has many of the key vintage Mediterranean details like tiled stairs, arched windows and a red tile roof. To keep up with the trend for great rooms the home has been updated with a larger kitchen and family room combo. The living room has a fireplace and arched French doors. The master suite has dual walk-in closets and a modern glam decor. There is also a media room, breakfast room, wine room and home gym. The backyard has a swimming pool, pool house, outdoor fireplace and cooking area. It probably doesn't look like the listing pictures now, one of the Real Estalker's commenters spotted moving vans carting off the home's belongings in late March. The home was listed at $3.995 million a couple of months ago but is now up to $4.295 million.

Unfortunately, this is NOT that uncommon of a real estate practice. House doesn't sell for a while, so why not raise the price to see if that increases interest? It must work, as I am seeing it more and more.

Sure is nice the way these high minded people live and we get the crums off the table, must be one of those high minded liberal DEMOCRATS that tell us do as I say not what I do, like high minded person in the WHITEHOUSE??????
Janice May 14th 2010 1:29PM
You have infested yourself with so much hate. What has the White House to do with how a movie star is selling her house. Live your life as you have chosen. If you are not or don't wish to be a part of this free interprise that is a huge part of the United States, seek somewhere else to live. Go to Afganistan, Pakistan, Iran or Iraq. Then quibble. Now what were you saying about the White House and the politicians?
Funny May 14th 2010 2:54PM
Happy in your stupidity? BTW what are "CRUMS"? I assume they are a they by the S on the end of the word.
I guess that you have not done much with your life and that is why you blame everyone but the person that is at fault...yourself. You have my pity, but not support.

I always think when I see large homes like these -- you would have to hire a cleaning crew every week to keep things neat and clean. Guess it just takes a whole lot of moolah to live like this!
pat May 14th 2010 9:27AM
Nickerson your values and reasons for hating the white house are all screwed up..Obama was left with a wheel-borrow full of of crap filled up by the GOP president. If you think you are eating crumbs now just until the GOP gets in there.
Tom May 14th 2010 12:34PM
Amen. So many people are so eager to jump and to blame Obama and the Democrats for the country's woes. Everyone needs to back up and remember what happened with the economy well before George W. Bush left office. The Republicans created this devastation. Go ahead and vote the Republicans or the Tea Party candidate into office. Those of you who are too blind or too ignorant to recognized the truth will have a hell of lot more to whine about when these idiots are voted into office.
Loretta May 14th 2010 10:18AM
Pat why did you have to bring politics into it. We were looking at the house and Nickerson made a small comment. The house is great but your politics are all wrong. Obama is ruining this country. Tell me one things he has done right. Bush had his faults but was not as bad as this man who knows nothing of running the country. Get real and enjoy the pictures of this beautiful house and make some sense of your comment at the end.
McRibb May 14th 2010 10:34AM
I could afford to dream of living in a house like this but then Bush happened and all the investments, the job and the dreams vanished! Thanks to all those who voted Republicans those years...thanks for crushing my dreams!
McRibb May 14th 2010 11:19AM
Hey wowvirgo! You sure you aren't one of those O'Reilly-Beckish type of independents. You know the kind that bash the Democrats 99.999% of the time idependents? The Republican (wolf) in idependent (sheep) teabagging independent. If all my troubles came from a couple of minority senators (Republicans were in control for 6 years under Bush) then what the hell were Bush, Cheney and the rest of the Neocons doing?? The blame firmly rests on the shoulders of those who lied thru their teeth about WMDs and waged a war on Iraq and supported big oil and other corporate welfare while screwing the middle class hard!

The house is beautiful. Though I think it should be selling for 2 mil. But really, I would love to have it!!
Susan Altomare May 14th 2010 11:08AM
Beautiful yard and pool, love the master bath. Kitchen is a major disappointment for a $4 mil house.

Sherry: I think you need to go back to school and bone up on your addition and subtraction skills? now I am no huge fan of Obama, however the truth is what the truth is? Obama has truthfully raised the national debt, but not 12 trillion by any stretch of the imagination? Bush came in with a budget surplus, (NOT a surplus on the national debt) we had a debt when he came in, but he added to that as well as unbalanced the fiscal budget he was given. in fact many republicans are equally fed up with Bush due to his profligate spending during his two terms as they are with Obama's spending in his first year? if you watch Glenn Beck he leaves no question as to where he stands on Bush being a huge spender? these two wars you alude to, we could have done well without one maybe both of them? Iraq was a total war of choice and had nothing to do with being hit on 9/11, Afganistan and Pakistan it is now clear was the only place we had legitimate business going into and we could have been out of their as winners a long time ago had the focus been where it should have been? allowing the generals to fight the war, go in and capture or kill Bin Laden, terminating the Taliban and declaring victory could have been done in Bush's first term? but as usual the Pols fight the wars for political reasons and here we are today almost a decade invloved, longer than either WW I or WW II, longer than the Vietnam war, and no clear strategic victory in sight, no capture of Bin Laden, he still operates at will? To give credit where credit is due, we have only begun to go after the real target where the enemy sleeps after Obama came into office and re-focused the war effort where it should be, I don't know if he will win or not, but at least we are allowing the Generals more latitude in fighting the war where they feel it should be fought??? but we would clearly not have nearly the debt we have had it not been for GW Bush and his endless perpetyal wars for perpetual peace?? sorry, but since you brought up the subject?
Jay Love May 14th 2010 11:19AM
actually, I hate that politics are brought into everything also, but it was NICKERSON: who did the bringing in of politics....others just responded as people will do???
jcole72722 May 14th 2010 12:06PM
The house is absolutely gorgeous. How many square feet?....just kidding. I, too, can only afford to look. By the look of things, my home would probably fit in the LR.... and on the other subject (Obama) he's costing our country to go so much farther than bancruptcy, we'll never get out. Just this morning I heard that Obama's people underestimated the cost in the first 10 yrs. by $115 billion, taking us way over the top of that trillion dollars they all swore we would be definitely under. Deliberately underestimating the costs to the American people is out and out lying. Apparently he's a better liar as he got the bill passed. Now we all pay, except the legislators and senators and those in future offices, since this healthcare bill does not and never will apply to them. I say what's good for the goose is good for the gander. Why do people who just pass laws for a living get such privileges? Because they only pass them for themselves not the general population.
Allan May 14th 2010 12:00PM
who's gonna buy this house in this economy? huh?
Daniel May 14th 2010 12:42PM
Kate
Its a beautiful place! What you lose too much on the crap table?
I don't care for the bathroom or the living room fireplace. Aside from that,
its spacious and very well laid out. The front outside has a prominence look.
Keep the place. Daniel

Gorgeous, gorgeous house. Plus, it's in Los Feliz, which is one of the best areas of Los Angeles. If I had the money, I'd move there in a minute!!!
SheWolf May 14th 2010 1:07PM
I saw her on celebrity ghost stories and this is the house she said was haunted.
