Daniel Island, Estate of the Day

Today's home is a new build on the water in the Daniel Island area of Charleston, South Carolina. The home is on a bend in Ralston Creek and has an infinity pool that looks out onto the marsh. The home's mansard roof is meant to recall more historic homes in the area but up close it's all modern. You enter the home through a reflection pool courtyard facing a pair of bronze and resin sunburst doors.
The home has an open layout with a large windows facing the marsh and light wood. The kitchen has a double layout that features two work areas separated by a six-burner stove that can be used from both sides. An island separates the entertaining area of the kitchen from the home's open living rooms. The bathrooms are angular and modern. A particularly whimsical note is the floral print dining room with clear ghost chairs and a beaded chandelier.
The home has its functional side too. There are surveillance cameras, remote-controlled hurricane shutters, two laundry rooms and a garage that can store up to seven cars. Outside there is a pool-side kitchen and deck and easy access to a deep-water dock with a boat lift. This home is listed at $6.499 million.

Nothing cozy about the place. Resembles an IKEA ad.

I agree with you on that. Although the view from balcony is nice.
It's just so cold looking inside that place.
mspat1001 May 10th 2010 9:27AM
Those windows are horrid - little panes of glass everywhere.
BTDT May 10th 2010 9:55AM
The entire place is horrid. Even the views suck.
Good luck selling this white elephant.

Agreed! Just goes to show the old adage is true... money can't buy taste!!!

I agree - cold as a dead fish! The only thing I liked (loved, actually) was the glassed in shower! Would love to have one like that.

P*S* - I do like the kitchen - lots of light and counter space. I also think the office/library is warm - looking. I wouldn't mind spending time in there, curled up with a good book. The rest of the house leaves me cold.

i agree....who decorated this piece of crap.
ro May 10th 2010 6:23AM
TERRIBLE FURNISHINGS AND SOME OF THE ROOMS - THE COLORS ARE AWFUL. NO TASTE AT ALL

this is the coldest house I have ever seen. No real thought put into to the furnishings. Such a waste, could be made beautiful if someone with taste decorated.
kikibird64 May 10th 2010 7:59AM
I agree! This is one of the coldest homes I've seen! It's almost like they were trying to put it in a magazine, rather than make it a home of their own! I love the houses on Daniel Island, most are very beautiful! It's an awesome drive!
straveler222 May 10th 2010 7:17AM
what they forgot to say was they paid 4.5M for the land 800K for the house and 700K for the exterior stuff and furnishings, you can always tell who inherited and who earned it by this type of crude example, I have built bigger and better for waaaaaaaaaaay less
Donna May 10th 2010 7:20AM
I thought in this kind of house, that it would be decorated better. Nothing caught my eye, but the dining room chairs at the table.

whats with the rediculous aunt jemina picture on the wall...
Bucky Bain May 10th 2010 8:23AM
Ms Woolard needs to remember that the use of the word "Home" sounds ostentatious in the context of a "House" that is listed for sale.
You cannnot "buy" a "Home"....that is something made with family, and with love.
What is being sold here is simply a "House". Nothiing more.

What is that sculpture thing in the bathroom? Some kind of sex chair?
