Viva Vdara!: Exclusive Resorts Adds Ten New Residences in Las Vegas

Recently, I wrote a Luxist article about the relevance of Exclusive Resorts and their permanent mark on the destination club industry. Exclusive Resorts has announced the opening of 10 new residences for members at Vdara Hotel & Spa at CityCenter on the Las Vegas Strip.

All are corner units, located high in the building, custom-designed and furnished to suit club member tastes. Each two-bedroom, two-and-a-half bath residence features an open floor plan, fully equipped kitchen, and spa-style bathrooms, wrapped by windows showcasing city and mountain views. Amenities include round-the-clock concierge service, gourmet in-room dining, and preferred reservations at MGM MIRAGE restaurants and shows.

"Vdara is the ideal place for our members to experience Las Vegas.," said Jeff Potter, CEO of Exclusive Resorts, "It's a non-gaming, residential oasis with all the services of a world-class luxury hotel. It also brings together innovative design, unsurpassed amenities, and the expertise of MGM MIRAGE in an exceptional location that's just an elevator ride away from all the best the city has to offer."

Spanish architect Rafael Viñoly designed Vdara -- and faced two significant challenges: first, he had to create a design that fit into the CityCenter architectural vision yet still retain its own distinctive identity, and second, he had to interpret Vdara™ in a way that differentiated it from the existing Las Vegas skyline. Vinoly's solution was to incorporate an unusual, overlapping crescent design that became Vdara -- the 57 story hotel and residence complex above The Strip. Vdara features an expansive two-floor wellness spa and fitness facility, as well as pool area with private cabanas. It also has easy access to the many attractions of CityCenter, completed in 2009.

Vdara is part of CityCenter, a unique urban space on 67 acres between Bellagio and Monte Carlo resorts on the Las Vegas Strip. It features ARIA, a 61-story, 4,004-room gaming resort; luxury non-gaming hotels including Las Vegas' first Mandarin Oriental and Vdara Hotel & Spa; Veer Towers, the development's only strictly residential buildings; and Crystals, a 500,000-square-foot retail and entertainment district. Vdara, Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas and Veer Towers include approximately 2,400 residences total. CityCenter also features a resident Cirque du Soleil production celebrating the musical legacy of Elvis Presley; a Fine Art Collection with works by contemporary artists that include Maya Lin, Jenny Holzer, Nancy Rubins, Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen, among others.

Also, and to many the most relevant,, CityCenter is the world's largest private green development. ARIA, Vdara, Crystals, Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas and Veer Towers all have received LEED® Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. This marks the highest LEED achievement for any hotel, retail district or residential development in Las Vegas. Setting a new standard for responsible growth in Las Vegas, Vdara and City Center have used wood products from responsibly managed forests; high efficiency water use, both inside the building and outdoors; alternative fuel options for limousines; and an improvement of more than 30 percent in energy efficiency over standard building codes.

ER Members can experience shopping and dining at City Center, in the Crystals retail and entertainment district, exceptional gaming at the new ARIA Resort & Casino, and the new Cirque du Soleil production "Viva Elvis." They will also enjoy signing privileges at all Las Vegas MGM MIRAGE properties including The Mirage, Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand and the Bellagio, all connected by an indoor walkway.
