Paul Allen's Tatoosh Yacht For Sale

Paul Allen shows up on the World's Largest Yachts lists two times in the top thirty, once with the Octopus at number nine, and again at 26 with the 92.42-meter (303.2-feet) Tatoosh. That latter ship has been put up for sale by Fraser Yachts in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida for €125,000,000 ($160,665,483 U.S.). Designed by Kusch Yachts and with an interior by Terence Disdale, the Tatoosh was built in 2001 by HDW Nobiskrug and refitted just this year. There is enough room aboard for 20 guests and 30 crew, a motorboat and helipad, numerous tenders, and all the Microsoft products you will ever own.

What a very nice boat. Paul Allen is way cool. Pirates wont bother a vessel while I'm on board. Last week I shot a quarter at half a football field with my 7.62 mm Mosine which pretty much makes me the best marksman on earth. A Mosine is good for 1.25 miles range or 2,000 meters. Pirates wont get close enough to hear the shot, just fall over....Al-

Most folks may be envious or condemn Mr. Allen for commissioning such a luxury ship; instead, we should all thank him. Consider the engineers, technicians, workers and crew whom he paid for their expertise and their labor. In return for supporting them for what I might assume took a few years, they gave him this fine example of engineering. Now he is passing it along .... and I hope its expert crew can stay aboard.

Mr. Morgan, that's not a bad way of looking at it. I've always said that if it weren't for the rich, the poor would have it a lot worse off. Who would there be to give to charities? On the other hand, when 80% of the people in this world don't have the basic necessities and go to bed hungry each night, the owner of this yacht could have done something very good with the money he paid for his yacht, which would have benefited far more people than the people involved in the building of this yacht. It would be nice if First World Countries themselves had better priorities and the income was a little more level. Everyone is entitled to basic necessities -- like, gee, food -- no one is really entitled to own a yacht that cost this much.

At just $160+ million, I'd better call before that baby is gone! Ahh haa ha! Actually, I can barely afford to look at the picture.

Best boat I was on is worth three times that but I didn't own it. I made 252 (two hundred and fifty two) cruises on the Ambassidor II casino ship. I wouldn't ride on that nice Allen thing for free. Why not ? Boring. The Ambassidor two is incredible. I'm talking beautiful women from all over the world, dancing, celeb look-alikes like Madonna, Elvis, Micael Jackson, Blues Brothers, etc. Food everywhere. And of course decadent gambling & casino dressed servers. Out to sea US laws don't apply so dirty dancing was permitted. I'm talking fun to the nth power....Al-

Yeah right Allen. This is the tip of a recession. You think anyone's gonna cough up 160 million for a boat? Good luck with that.
jeffmust May 6th 2010 11:35AM
Kelly - yup, the Ultra Rich are really down-and-out - so no chance there will be any buyers for this ship...guess they blew their wads with that $100M+ Picasso sale earlier this week, right?
steve May 7th 2010 10:01PM
Kelly, true we are at the tip of a recession, but it is mainly affecting the middle and lower classes of society. Because of this recession, the top 1% is getting richer still, who are the only ones who could afford something like this to begin with.

Maltese Falcon recently sold and she was more! I am in the yacht industry and people with means still spend big $!!!!! Seems the Russians are the most spendy these days...........

Having a lot of money doesn't mean you have a great life. I'd rather cruise on the Ambassidor II casino ship any day. Using you brain will yield a better life than a lot of money....Alfred-

MUST BE NICE .. PEOPLE ARE OUT OF WORK STARVING AND HAVE NO MEDICAL CARE AND THEY HAVE A YACHT THAT HOLDS 5O PEOPLE. HOW ARROGANT.. MUST BE SOMETHING BETTER HE COULD DO WITH HIS MONEY ?
kluj May 6th 2010 12:02PM
Hmmm...if that ship can only hold 20 people plus 30 crew memebrs then they must be some pretty large people! ive seen more people than that on motor boats in the harbor!
Joseph A. Cavin May 7th 2010 10:22PM
Kluj... No it can hold a lot more BUT it has enough bedrooms, staterooms to house 20 guest and the crew...

All that money, and he won't get his teeth fixed...

Like many Americans around the country ,I have spent some money unwisely during the good times and beat myself up regularly over it. I don't know the circumstance which are facilitating Mr Allen selling his boat ,but I have an 04 honda aqua trax that would be an awesome addition to new owners fun ,that they can pick up for an additional 6 g's. Riding the wakes of a big yachts with a PWC , in my opinion is the most entertaining activity on this earth.
