Black Diamond Serpent Cufflinks by Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie for Asprey

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have designed an $11,000 pair of black diamond, emerald and white gold serpent cufflinks for famed London luxury goods house Asprey to benefit a children's charity. The luxe accessories are the first item for men in the Protector Collection, the line of limited edition fine jewels and silver objects created by the couple in collaboration with Asprey which my colleague Deirdre Woollard reported on last fall. The design of the Protector black diamond serpent links with 18k white gold bases and emerald eyes is based on Jolie's reflection on the serpent as an iconic guardian and cultural symbol of family protection, inspired by a ring she was given while pregnant with the couple's first child Shiloh in 2006. Each piece in Protector Collection is a limited edition, handcrafted at Asprey's London flagship store in New Bond Street. The black diamond serpent cufflinks match rings, earrings and a pendant in the women's collection. All proceeds from the Protector Collection pieces are being donated to the Education Partnership For Children of Conflict (EPCC). Co-founded by Jolie, the organization raises awareness and funds to educate child victims of war, conflict and natural disasters.

This makes sense, seeing how they are both snakes themselves.

My sentiments exactly. My first thought was, "How appropriate!"

Love 'em!

at that price, I'll take one of each, "NOT" !!! So ridiculous for people to have that kind of money for jewelry, while I and many others barely get by on our incomes.

Where in your constitution does it say they have to give up their luxuries they worked for, because you didn't have the same ambition, talent and drive. They aren't responsible for your happiness or anyone else's. Find your talent and make your own damn money. I can't stand people who begrudge others what they have worked hard for.

Good they are helping a charity, but why in the world would anyone want to wear a SNAKE!!??
I think it's more Jolie's design than Brad's
ewww
Donna May 3rd 2010 10:28AM
Angelina thinks the snake represents a 'guardian' and 'family protector' ??? What the heck is she smoking? I guess she forgot the form satan choose to use (snake) in the Garden of Eden who decieved Eve (Adam) and ruined the human race and the perfect earth ever since! Protector of families? Are you kidding???

Love them, love the jewelry, but it would have been nice if they had designed something the 'little people' could afford.
Donna May 3rd 2010 12:26PM
This has got to be the most expensive unattractive jewelry I have ever seen. Are they kidding????? When I think of children I think of angels or cherubs not snakes. What were they thinking about?? I hope people will buy them.

Don't like them? Can't afford them? Don't buy them. Many wealthy people WILL like them, CAN afford them and WILL buy them, and guess what??? All the profit goes to help the children.
Why are you such haters?????????? And, oh-by-the-way, what have YOU done for ANYONE other than yourself lately?

If you don't like this article and the cuff links then don't bother stating your opinion. We all have our own tastes in clothing/jewelry/cars/homes, etc. That is what makes life interesting. It's obvious most of you with your negative responses don't care for Jolie but at least she attempts to do good for others. If I had an extra $11,000, I'd be happy to purchase them if only because they are for a worthy cause. Actually I prefer snakes to spiders (have a phobia for spiders). And, what she believes is HER business NOT YOURS!

Great cause! Doesn't matter who does or does not like Jolie and Pitt; the purpose and outcome are what matters. Creating $10, or even $100 jewelry that us common people can afford (as suggested by other comments) has nothing to do with "the cause" unless these children can cling to life for a couple of years so that we can have yet one more opportunity! This is about the children for a change rather than the rest of us. Snakes were created by God and used by Satan, but their purpose still remains. Selling one set of these cuffs will help a lot of children...smart marketing strategy!

Sometimes I have to wonder why people who don't seem to really like/have/aspire to luxury bother with this site...the name of the site says it all...being critical is one thing, being a constant hater has long since become boring...please go elsewhere to complain about rich people having things you don't...there you will find like-minded whiners...you will feel right at home...
Thank You.
