Louis Vuitton Launches iPad Cases

Louis Vuitton is coming out with the ultimate luxurious accessory for Apple's much-loved new iPad – cases covered in the famed French fashion house's signature canvas. The sleek, simple sleeve-style sheath will be available in both Vuitton's classic monogram pattern and the more modern Damier Graphite checkerboard. Priced at about $365 apiece and set to be available in 2011, the cases are only a little less expensive than the iPad itself, but certainly lend it a sizable dose of style. And they're still cheaper then the handstitched leather versions my colleague Rigel Celeste wrote about last month. As British GQ notes, the Vuitton cases lend the device the "feel of a lightweight, ultra-portable attaché case - appropriate given that it is superseding your offline files and folders, [and] also gives your iPad some much-needed protection."

I LIKE L. V. BAGES & SHOES BUT $365.00 4 A CASE 4 I PAD IS A BIT IS THIS CASE 4 THE RICH ONLY BECAUSE L.V. GOT RICH OFF TRYN 2 LIVE LIKE THE JONES.

I own a Vuitton credit card case and I can tell you their products are of the highest quality but a bit on the pricey side.

L.V. is the perfect example of how (some) of our society is still controlled by the idea that a label actually represents their own personal value and wealth. Notice how the description is "canvas"? It's basically plastic! Why would anyone, logically, spent $365 on a plastic cover? When I see someone w/ an L.V. accessory, I think,
what a big waste of money!

When I see someone carrying LV, I think "There goes another marketing victim". I never fell for the notion of defining my self worth by the labels on the items I wear/carry, and have a very healthy bank account to prove it!

Tracygator- In this case "canvas" means the design, not of what the product is made. The cases are made out of leather.

Well Tracy, everyone has their likes and dislikes. Some spend, some don't. I happen to like my designer accessories (Gucci,Dior,LV, etc.) My friends carry Dooney, Coach etc. It all depends on what the individual preference is. There is no right or wrong way of owning an expensive handbag or accessories !

Actually Jim, LV isn't the Jones'. I have never seen a wealthy person carrying LV, except celebrities who are walking ads. The wealthy don't need to spread labels all over their stuff to show their wealth. It's the wannabes who carry in-your-face expensive/designer items because they are playing the part of being wealthy, they're not actually wealthy.

Louis Vuitton is dead. The company is owned by Moet Hennessey as well as other luxury brands.

I love LV. I have a few LV bags, and they have lasted forever and are just as beautiful as the day I bought them! But these cases are just plain ugly. The traditional "monogram canvas" style isn't too bad, but the Damier is hideous! Why not debut some of the cases in "monogram mulitcolore"? Or "monogram vernis"? Anything but the Damier!

if you have ever owned an lv bag or anything lv makes, you would realize the unique quality of the item. i love my lv items and they never are trendy and always in style.

LV IS A GREAT BRAND. VERY CLASSY. UNFORTUNATELY THE PRICES ARE RIDICULOUS. THAT'S WHY I SELL THEM FOR ABOUT $80:) PRICES ARE INSANE. AND MINE ARE BEAUTIFUL. I TAKE PRIDE IN THAT!

I have many LV products that I have purchased over many years. They are expensive, but they last forever and continue to look great. I was surprised that the IPad cover wasn't at least $495. I know they are just a silly status symbol, but I enjoy the product and can afford them so I buy a new piece occasionally. The older pieces always appeal to collectors. I have even purchased pieces in Italy and France while on vacation. Each of those pieces reminds me of the good time I had in that city.

And why does someone always feel the need to be critical of a posting with incorrect spelling or improper grammar? Not everyone is well educated or a good typist.
