Today's home in Los Gatos Hills in Northern California typifies the new wealthy Californian model. The huge 16,000 square foot home is new, modern and pseudo-Mediterranean in style but don't toss the McMansion sobriquet at this one yet. The home actually has quite a bit of style. It's money, no doubt about that, but the clean lines and open living spaces have a casual homey feel. It's a home that doesn't need to impress with a lot of fancy faux. The most impressive space might just be the master bedroom in which the bed faces curving windows and a fireplace so you can stay toasty warm while enjoying the view. There's no bedside television, who needs TV with a view like this. When you tire of the view you can retire to the spa-inspired bathroom with its curvilinear wall of mosaic glass tiles that hold two open showers with clerestory windows and embrace a circular whirlpool tub.The home has a large gym, downstairs media room and a gourmet kitchen with a blue kitchen island. The home includes a pool and spa and a guest house. It is listed at $16 million.
