Lost Society: Something Completely Different

Lost Society is a perfect hideaway for late night dining and especially drinking in Clapham, London, and has been nominated for a Readers' Choice Award for Best Cocktail Lounges.
The venue, which is a two-story barn dating back to 16th century England, has been redesigned as a dark, sexy country mansion reminiscent of movies like Clue or even Eyes Wide Shut. Six rooms provide completely different experiences, from dancing in the Crystal Ballroom to dining in the Black & White room, from classic cocktails in the Conservatory to "intelligent drinking" in the Library.
And what it is "intelligent drinking," exactly? Curl yourself in an ornate chair by the sky-high bookshelves and taste a fine wine or a Grape Expectations (White grapes and basil leaves with Zubrowka Bison Vodka, elderflower, lime juice, sugar and Chilean Sauvignon Blanc), and you will probably come up with the answer yourself.
The classic cocktail menu includes hard-to-get mixology masterpieces like the Mint Julep and the Dark and Stormy, all mixed with well-chosen liquors and priced at a reasonable £6 to £8 -- and that price goes for their original cocktails, as well, such as The Fruit of 43 Virgins (Mango puree, passion fruit puree, Liquor 43, Mango Vodka, apple juice, runny honey and honey syrup) and The LL Cool Luke (Wyborowa Vodka, Peach schnaps, pear jam, with a touch of sugar and topped with champagne).
The barn also houses an intimate dining Mezzanine, an Oriental Lounge and a secluded Garden for the comfortable, elegant indulgence of your smoking desires.
The history of the venue includes a banquet for Queen Elizabeth I and her courtiers and the death of flower seller Rose Devereaux, who is said to have haunted the building since around 1900 (she must be tired). Despite a palpable aristocratic air, one can always leave it to the Britons to have a good time -- they show up in droves for the nightly specials like Fondue Thursdays, Steak Tuesdays and a very happy Happy Hour daily (hours vary by day).
Whatever kind of evening you're hoping to have, you can have it at Lost Society -- just a room away from, as Monty Python would say, "something completely different."
Vote for the cocktail lounge that you believe is the best of breed. The voting period runs through April 30 and winners will be announced on May 1.
