Woman Builds $20,000 Dog House for 3 Pampered Pets

What does a $20,000 dog house look like? A lot like a regular house, only smaller and with furniture lower to the ground. 42 year old Tammy Kassis lives with her husband outside of Los Angeles and when an owl almost carried one of her 3 dogs away she decided to give them, Chelsea, Coco Puff, and Darla, a home of their own. She commissioned Alan Mowrer of La Petite Maison in Denver for the job and the result is an 11ft replica of the family home with luxury features like hardwood floors, heat, A/C, screened doors and windows, mini-blinds, handmade curtains, and landscaping complete with a white picket fence. She's even planning to install a plasma TV so the dogs can all watch Animal Planet together, their favorite show.

Mrs. Kassis was quoted as saying "My dogs are my life," but I can't help but wonder how much time are the dogs spending in this $20,000 doghouse instead of in the regular house with the family? Regardless, it's quite the accomplishment. See more shot, including the interior, in the gallery below.

Cute idea, but sad for America. We are in the toilet and you spend this kind of money. You should have saved it for your retirement. Or fed starving children, or fed the elderly for how long? Can't go along with this. Sorry!

SICK. I am sorry, I have a pet too,she still eats seeds as parrots do and a million dollars she will still eat seed and the veggies and nutrients she gets now. Feed a family , feed a few familys. Feed a few kids, Help an animal shelter.

It's probably one of Obama's "make jobs" projects - it put people to work coast-to-coast building it - LOL!

Just one flaw in the design though, that "white picket fence" isn't going to keep the owls out.

Her dogs are her life? And they're kept outside the home in a dog house? Good thing she didn't say that about her kids.

Dogs are family members; they deserve to live with the rest of us. Not outside, no matter how extravagant the digs.

your dead wrong! have you ever seen how a dog reacts when her/his person comes home? that's love and joy.
i have dogs and cats and they show love towards me everyday.
the other day i saw a woman, Susan, sitting on her couch watching tv. her cat, Crissy, was behind her with back paws on the couch and her front paws lieing on each of this Susan's shoulders along side her neck and Crissy's had her head laying down on one of Susan's shoulder. I had never seen anything like this before and it was so obvious that Crissy loves Susan sooo much.
this is the way Crissy spends the evening with her person Susan. this cat loves this woman.
i've seen a dog go into mourning whenher best friend, the other family dog it lived with and LOVED has died. she looked for her loved one everywhere for days.
The lord created ALL living creatures on this earth. We are the caretakers of all animals. God created animals with the capacity to love and it's a wonderful feeling having an animal love you. you should try observing animals more closely and you'll realize just how much they do love. they love alot better then most people i've seen.

You put a "Rot" in a room with you that you call your pet and don't feed him for about a week and see just how much he loves you. You will be dinner! Animals only love you as far as their next meal. I like animals (not love animals), but they have thier place. People like you are pathatic!

What a complete waste of money, even if it is her own. And how does a second house save them from being snatched up?? Don't want your animals preyed upon? Get bigger ones, or rescue some bigger dogs to protect the tiny ones....oh, but then, she'd need a bigger house to house the 3 AND the their protectors. Must be really nice to have $20k to burn like that. At least it could be re-used as a child's play house by some other deep-pocketed family.

And you think we have a problem with our economy?? Obviously not.........
Just one question: Can the dog get bailed out in case it is not able to make mortgage payments?
I am not sure why the word ‘disgusting’ comes to mind……
We should plow the house down and build a ‘Doggy Walmart’ instead…….brings in more tax revenue

This little house was for the wife, not the dogs. She needed something to fill her wasted time. Hubby goes to work, she stays home with the dogs, she gets bored, and she builds a ridiculous dog house so she can decorate it. I have absolutely no doubt that the dogs really live in the "main" house. Whatever. If she wants to spend her money like that, then let her. None of us have a vague idea or notion of what she donates to charity. How do you know that her babies aren't rescued? How do you know that she doesn't donate to the SPCA, or local dog shelters? She spent money on the dog house construction, supplies, interior decorations, and the labor to build it. All of which put money back into the economy, which is in desperate need. Duh. I'm all for helping needy humans and animals, but seriously, some of you guys need to go fly your hammer and sickle somewhere else.

It is good to know some people love their dogs so much. I wish I had that kind of money so I could get a building built for rescue dogs. I have 10 acres to put it on but I do not have the money or donations. I run a dog rescue and I have been trying and trying to get a building up for them. I want them to know what love is while they are here with me waiting to be adopted. I want them to go on to their new homes and be loved as much as Chelsea, Coco Puff and Darla are loved by Tammy. So many dogs are abused, beating and thrown away like yesterdays garbage. I know I see it daily. I have new dogs come to me daily and so many have never known what kindness is. God Bless those who have great homes and who have owners that care about them so much. Save a life and adopt a dog and always remember to spay and neuter your pets. I WOULD HAVE PUT THE SCREEN OVER IT, AS THEY USE IN POOLS TO KEEP THE OWLS AND HAWKS OUT,,IF MONEY WERE NO OBJECT ,,I'D DO THE SAME,,LOVE MY DOGS CANT AFFORD IT....BEFORE YOU "BASH" ANYONE FOR WHAT THEY DO,,,LOOK AT YOUR OWN LIFE!! MAYBE THEY CANT HAVE CHILDREN,,TOO OLD FOR CHILDREN ETC,,,, GREAT THEY TAKE CARE OF THE PETS IN THAT FASHION,,,TOO MANY PEOPLE CANT EVEN CHANGE WATER ,BATHE PETS OR TRIM THE NAILS!!

I WOULD TOO IF I COULD FOR MY PUPS AND DOGS....BEFORE ANYONE BASHES ANYONE ,,,YOU SHOULD LOOK AT YOUR OWN LIFE,,,AND MAYBE THEY CANT HAVE KIDS,,TOO OLD FOR HAVING CHILDREN,ETC...,,OR KNOW THAT THESE DOGS BRING THEM PLEASURE WITHOUT ATTITUDES!!!AND BIG MOUTHS....MOST PET OWNERS CANT FIND TIME TO BATHE , TRIM THE DOGS NAILS OR EVEN CHANGE THE PETS WATER DAILY...GOD BLESS THEM!!

I have never seen so many People to put down for something for there family they are there family, and by the way their money,I love my pets they live with us and a fence in yard they love ++++++ they watch tv with us... and if i had the money i would do the same ...love what they have done. my three Pets are smart + my parrt loves the back yard to and in side with us....Speaking from the heart ..... some of you need to do yard work or what ever..... stop running down people that loves there Pets God bless to you all From TNN
