Local Luxury: Sucre-An Easter Hot Spot for Luxurious New Orleans' Chocolate

Sucre
, located at 3025 Magazine Street in New Orleans' Garden District, boasts a modern trendy facade with an ice-cream parlor atmosphere, the exception being that macarons, truffles, real gelato, and sorbets can also be consumed at one's pleasure. Founded by Joel Dondis (owner of Joel Catering and Event Planning) in April of 2007, Sucre is a getaway to French desserts and may very well be the best place to stop for a sweeter than sweet tooth. Open from 9am-10pm daily, Sucre offers pastries for breakfast and can bea a perfect late night stop off for the final elegant touch to a whimsical date night.

Desserts are plated and garnished in the most fabulous manner as if you were dining at a five-star restaurant in Paris. "Sucre" means "sugar" in French, and plenty of sugar can be found in their French macarons filled with cream or mousseline. If you have never had the pleasure of experiencing a macaron, you might envision an upscale, fluffy cream-centered Oreo available in a rainbow of colors and a spectrum of exotic flavors.

Their chocolate collections include dainty pink bunnies for Easter and a wide variety of chocolate creations, reaching all ranges of the flavor spectrum from scrumptious White Chocolate Ganache to a more playful Peanut Butter and Jelly. Their most enticing chocolate item for the Easter holiday menu is the Sucre Surprise Egg, consisting of a milk chocolate shell with a prize on the inside! But wait, it gets better, one might say "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Golden Ticket" better, one lucky person will receive a golden ticket to learn what it's like to be a pastry chef for one day. The egg is $17, but it might be worth the opportunity of working with a real pastry chef at Sucre!

My absolute favorite, if one could really pick just one at Sucre, is drinking a mug of their extra dark chocolate made from Venezuelan bittersweet chocolate while munching on their hand-picked Candied Southern Pecans. Starbucks used to offer the same dainty cup of chocolate during the holiday, and they may still, but Sucre tops even theirs; it also comes in Peppermint Stick flavoring as well.

Sucre is a multi-faceted sweet shop that is a 'Best of New Orleans' chocolate shop that also offers other specialties such as wedding and specialty cakes, along with coffee & espresso drinks, and 'adult beverages' to complement the sweets. If you go online to http://shopsucre.com, you will also find t-shirts, corporate discounts, and giftcards for purchase.
