Steve McQueen's "Little Ferrari" for Sale

The 1953 Siata 208S Spyder (above) that actor Steve McQueen affectionately dubbed his "Little Ferrari" is being offered for sale by California's Fantasy Junction for $1.295 million. The Italian roadster, one of only 35 built, was one of the first foreign sports cars acquired by the King of Cool who came to be famous for his stable of exotic autos. Featured in the 2007 book McQueen's Machines, it was formerly part of the Cars of Steve McQueen exhibition at The Petersen Auto Museum in Los Angeles.

Bruce Sand, the doctor and former UCLA Medical School student who acquired the car from McQueen, recounts that the actor had removed the Siata's front nose badge, put a Ferrari shield on it, and called it his "Little Ferrari". In addition to a 2.3 Litre 8-cylinder Fiat engine, the car features a very rare set of TAG Heuer racing instruments (watch and stop-watch), which are affixed to the dashboard. Painstakingly restored to perfection with the engine completely rebuilt, the car has won honors at several concours d'elegance.

Yeah, nice car but what sucks is the way these AOL articals are headlined to rope us into going to the artical so they can bombard on us with dozens of ads. The click through page of AOL is headlined "Steve McQueen's Ferarri for sale". The car is not a Ferarri but looks nearly identical to one. It was simply called by its second owner as his Little Ferarri. Obvioulsy in online operation "clicks are money" and real truth isn't important..

over 40 years ago I was in the middle of my martials arts career & i met and took several pictures of Bruce Lee, Tanaka who was the grand champion of Japan & Steve McQueen. 14 pictures in all and every so often I dig them out and look at them. I spent 16+ years in the sport and acquired 12 black belts in 3 styles & a record of 114/111/79 w/ a world championship & 4 regional titles. Steve was a very big fan and an intelligent and friendly person along w/ veing a great actor. It is a shame that some people have to leave this earth, Bruce & Steve were both great loss's to the world.

I built Steve's mini cooper when I worked at hollywood sport car. Steve was a good friend and client. We had a few tough times together but we worked them out. He actually came in to buy a new Ferarri and bought a mini at the same time. He brought them both back for a first service and the mini had three times the mileage on it then the Ferarri.

Jim put up the photos of Lee and McQueen that would be cool to see. As bad ass as Bruce was he hated riding with Steve it scared the you know what out of him.Both great people.
