Exhale Opens First Residents-Only Spa at Iconic Manhattan House in New York

Exhale Mind Body Spa
, the highly acclaimed national spa brand (and a nominee for a Luxist Award for Best Day Spa), has opened its first residential location in New York City at Manhattan House, the iconic landmarked condominium on the Upper East Side.

The rooftop-level mind body spa is the first residential Exhale mind body spa in New York City, but the second for the company, which also operates a spa for residents only at 45 Province in Boston. Exhale has 14 additional locations open to the public in such cities as Dallas, Boston, Florida, Los Angeles, Chicago, and the Caribbean.

The 2,000-square-foot transformational rooftop spa space features a mind body studio with striking city views, therapy room, meditation lounge and tea bar. The spa complements the 2,000-square-foot fitness center which opened at Manhattan House in June 2009.
Exhale's results-oriented spa and healing therapies, programs, teachers and technicians are available both in-spa and in-residence. Services available at the spa include relaxing massages and restorative body therapies, including the brand's renowned facials that use the latest technological advances and healing services such as detox and cleansing programs, acupuncture, cupping, and nutrition.

Residents also have the opportunity to experience Exhale's highly publicized and effective Core Fusion, Core Fusion Sport, Core Fusion Yoga and Vinyasa Yoga classes through the building's weekly roster of group classes. Private personal training sessions are available in-spa or in-residence. Group appointments and special events may be reserved as well.

Designed to help residents wind down upon entering and feel energized when leaving, the space features environmentally friendly materials and establishes a connection between the spa environment and nature. Salvaged barn wood is used for accent walls and doors, local tree logs for furniture and reclaimed liana branches create a layer of nature between the spa and Manhattan skyline. Bold colors are infused with these natural elements.

"Color plays a prominent role in setting the mood and energy of each area," says Orit Kaufman, principal of Nema Workshop, the interior design firm founded by Anurag Nema that designed Exhale at Manhattan House. Indeed, the spa lobby incorporates a primal orange color, which has a warm hue "that energizes and invigorates the mind and body," Kaufman adds. The studio ceiling has giant green grass wallpaper with highlights of yellow daisies.

Located at 200 East 66th Street, Manhattan House is a post-war condominium built to pre-war specifications. Designed in 1950 by Pritzker Architecture Prize Laureate Architect Gordon Bunshaft of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and designated a historic landmark in 2007 by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission, Manhattan House is set within private gardens and features gracious one- to five-bedroom residences available for immediate occupancy and priced from $995,000. Many homes have multiple exposures and expansive closet and storage space, as well as fireplaces and private balconies. The property was developed by O'Connor Capital Partners. The exclusive marketing and sales agent is Corcoran Sunshine Marketing Group. (See unit availabilty here).

"We are proud to open our first residential location in Manhattan at such an esteemed building as Manhattan House," says Annbeth Eschbach, founder and chief executive officer of Exhale. "O'Connor Capital Partners has gone above and beyond to deliver a comprehensive array of holistic residential amenities at this condominium."

In addition to the exhale amenities, Manhattan House features full-time doormen, five-star concierge services, and porte-cochere entrances on the tree-lined, two-way 66th Street, as well as on-site garage and valet service. Residents enjoy such amenities as a stunning 10,000-square-foot rooftop level featuring the Randall A. Ridless-designed Manhattan Club which has an outdoor terrace and indoor library and lounge for residents' enjoyment and relaxation, as well as morning coffee, pastries and newspapers.

Manhattan House also features a Roto Studio-designed children's playroom and one of Manhattan's largest private residential gardens. Designed by Sasaki Associates, the Manhattan House gardens feature two significant sculptures, Trinity and Red Gateway, designed by internationally acclaimed Sculptor Hans Van de Bovenkamp.

"We knew from the start that the Exhale brand would be the perfect synergy for Manhattan House," says Brian Fallon, a partner of O'Connor Capital Partners. "Exhale's commitment to the highest quality, hand-selected equipment and services matches O'Connor Capital Partners' dedication to the re-engineering of Manhattan House every step of the way."
