The 'Candelier' is a Chandelier of Candy

Chandeliers have the power to make or break a whole room, so finding one that fits in with your decor and personality is important. This 'Candelier' by Jellio is aiming to appeal to your personal tastes with not only its contemporary and colorful spherical design, but also the fact that if you look closely it's made up entirely of thousands upon thousands of tiny acrylic gummi bears. About 5000 of them handstrung to catch the light just right, each Candelier is slightly different and takes about 2 months to put together. Available in a limited edition of just 10 for $9,500 each.

I wonder how many gummy bears you can buy for $9,500.00.
Allegro's Jojo Mar 6th 2010 7:19PM
Why do I think this will become a sticky, gooey mess in the Summer?
Alfre Mar 6th 2010 11:29AM
The gummy bears a acrylic. Not real. They won't melt. Who would pay 9500 for real melty gummies??
KatieCouric'sNemesis Mar 6th 2010 12:15PM
I think a better question would be who would buy a chandelier of ANY kind of gummi bears--and at $9500 at that??

Try reading the article you two morons!!
"made up entirely of thousands upon thousands of tiny acrylic gummi bears"
ARCRYLIC !!!
the only smart one was wondering about cleaning
Lita Mar 6th 2010 1:08PM
Why all the angry, name-calling? Why not just simply point out that the article said the gummi-bears were acrylic? You are definitely someone with issues, to go off over something so small. Please seek psychiatric help.
dmfischetti Mar 6th 2010 11:36AM
They can't become stick or gooey, article says that they are acrylic gummi bears. Still $9500 for that mess ARE YOU KIDDING ?????
tinkblondegirl Mar 6th 2010 11:38AM
Try reading .. they teach it in schools. It says they're ARCRYLIC !!! Not Candy !!!
sunners Mar 6th 2010 1:13PM
Try spelling correctly. They teach THAT in schools, also. It's A-C-R-Y-L-I-C. No R before the C.

I could make this. All you would need would be the hard plastic (acrylic) bears, or what even you wanted the design to be. I do school carnivals. You could purchase enough acrylic items for $30 or $40. Then you would need a covered iron hoop, fishing line, a light bulb kit and LOTS of patience. I figure the whole thing would cost about $100. As for cleaning it, remove the electrical cord and bulb , and hang in a hot shower. Spray down with a cleaning agent to losen dirt. Just be really careful not to tangle it up. What a mess that would be. I just might try this on a smaller scale for my grandson's room using acrylic horses. Thanks for sharing this with myself and my fellow crafters. This presents a new challenge.

I love your crafty spirit. I would do it with multicolored faceted beads. I think this is a fab idea

It looks almost impossible to clean, and it would just make me hungry for Gummi Bears 24/7. I love the little green ones. Maybe Suri's mom will buy her one.
