What would the toy bring back as far as memories and "life-changing" events. Inanimate objects may bring back scents (like hanging out at the tavern or rock [herbal-smoked] concert), but what else.

Animal vacations may have some value (animals may need a break from their owners/ trained-slaves) to learn what they may be missing. They may come home from the vacation either loving their owners even more, or wanting to go on vacation again, as the the vacation may be more satisfying than their home life.

Leon Stark

Comments on Toy Travel Agency Will Take Your Teddy Bear on a Luxury Vacation

I first heard about this years ago when a little girl who was terminally ill couldn't travel herself so she sent her stuffed bear out. It had a little notebook inside it's pouch so the person with it could write down the adventures the bear went on, then that person would pass it on to someone else, then eventually when the notebook was full (I believe), they sent it back. A P.O box address was in the notebook so it could be sent there.
It may sound a little ridiculous in the article but with circumstances like ill children unable to go themselves I think it's really awesome.

Meagan

Comments on Toy Travel Agency Will Take Your Teddy Bear on a Luxury Vacation

How sad...the world is falling apart and people send their teddy bear on vacation?? I would rather send the toy on with a good friend and get the kind of observations someone else my age might have.

I am thinking of the letters that Watson sent to Holmes in "The Hound of the Baskervilles". Holmes lived in a cave in the Grimpen Moor and intercepted the posted letters as Watson sent them. Holmes could not be immediately on site, but had Watson play his eyes and ears, giving information from years of watching what Holmes might himself observe.

If it were my daughter as the ill one, there are three or four proxies who would write thoughtful and insightful notes on their travels within her reading grade level.

Leon Stark
