Magrette Tane Hand-Engraved Watch From New Zealand

The detail is stunning, and so are the images. In addition to native Maori decor, the watch has faces and characters that really liven it up. New for Magrette is an upgraded dial done by American LUM-TEC. This means the dial has their special in-house MDV GX luminant for impressive darkness viewing and visual appeal. Magrette fans will notice the upgraded dial immediately. The watch is attached to a black leather strap with red stitching. Inside is a Swiss ETA 2824-2 automatic movement that has a decorated rotor like you've never seen before on any other brand's watch. The watch is available now, and each of the 10 pieces are priced at a reasonable $4,485.

I like the design concept, the watches, and history.
As a fan, one question:
Does Magrette have a meaning- other than the sound?
The image of starched white shirts, black suits, cobblestones, old world charm.
But does not authenticity require words- including brand words- have a meaning?
In any case, I like the watch.

Ok, the watch is far too decorative for your tastes. But when your 'I'__ (insert electronic what ever crashes or glytches, gets a virus and stops working, the 'rechargeable battery-that you can't replace' finally wears out'/and you have to get a new one, or just breaks/dies.)
You'll be super happy that you have a wind up watch. It doesn't have to cost over 4grand U$, be engraved with an 'Aztec Calendar'. It can be under $20. With Roman Numerals, and from Timex. But dammit-you'll know what time it is.
Some of you Sheeple sound like those Cashiers that look like Deer caught in a Car's Headlights when the Cash Register breaks, that end up with a Shop full of Irate Customers because No One has a Frelling Calculator in their drawer, (Book bag, or Purse). Or because they can't Add & Subtract with a Pen & Paper, if push comes to shove.
Seriously...you're going to bank your life on your iPod/iPhone/Blackberry? I'll be impressed with one of those things if it can drive a car & pick up someone's kids from Ballet after school. Until then..wind your watch you can't be 'that' lazy.

First of all...that is a really ugly watch. Way too busy. I am sure the Maoris are all wearing one! Secondly? No one buys watches anymore...everyone has a cell phone/ipod/whatever. The engraving is impressive and intricate....but 4500???? Really? Barf

A person would have to have a sense of respect and admiration for fine workmanship and the ability to recognize and enjoy fine art to appreciate the beauty of this watch. You do not have this quality and that is OK. If your cellphone tells you the time and that is as far as you need to go, good for you. Too bad though, you don't have a clue what you are missing.

You have no class. I feel sorry for you.

So glad you know everyone! For your personal information some of us do buy and wear watches and do not live exclusively by the gadgets you so love. This is an exquisite piece of work and I would proudly wear one. It is obvious have never made anything by hand and were born to own plastic.

What an amazing piece! I have never seen anything like this before.
This is wearable art. Well done Magrette!

No thank you. Someone else can have my place in line. It's has some pretty engraving but not my taste in a watch. Even if it kept perfect time. My guess is that they have the 10 purchasers already committed and probably have deposits in hand. I wouldn't play that game even if I won a lottery.

Silly people........... the hype will make the value-- or perceived value many times the cost of the watch.. They will be scooped up and bought by people who really want them eventually for a MUCH higher price tag.

I've got a $25 Timex that I've had for six years and works perfectly.

Sorry... my ego isn't large enough to need such adornment.

Now its easy to spot the 10 biggest idiots who would spend that much money on a device that does something that comes on the cheapest cell phone!

It's a nice watch, I'll say that, but this kind of watch is for others to see and marvel at not just yourself, now a pocket watch is for you and will be seen by you alone unless you care to share with others. wearing you wealth on you sleve, so to speak, is a little to vain for me, it's on the same line as alot of flashy jewlery.
joe t Feb 21st 2010 6:21PM
hey, guys! Ya don't wanna buy one, don't buy one! Ya don't wanna wear one, don't wear one! But why do you have to disparage someone who wants it? It's obviously not just about telling time. As a parishioner used to say to me a long time ago: "Father, whatever makes your boat float!"
