Kudos to Ms. Kime! I hope I'll get to read more from her on this site in the future.

As for content I'm very happy to hear that this club is trying to do some of the hard and justice-oriented work of helping the communities that surround them. I've seen so many clubs and resorts like these, set in beautiful places, that seem to simply ignore the poverty and histories of injustice that have taken place outside their gates.

In the early 80's my family and I vacationed at a resort in South Africa that has since gone under. One of the things we'll always remember is the drive to the resort. Shanty towns and poverty like we'd never seen before, only to open to an amazing resort with one of the most beautiful swimming pools we'd ever seen. Still, the whole trip, my kids couldn't help but have a pit in their stomachs for the struggles that they were convinced were happening just a few miles away.

I'm a huge history buff and have never heard of the Tryall Club before. Tryall is on my radar now!

Leonard Raskin
