Sea Cliff, Estate of the Day

Some of the listing pics on today's Maine estate could be turned into postcards, they're that pretty. Sea Cliff commands a rocky outpost on Cape Elizabeth. The shingled home was built in 1915 and has four bedrooms. Large windows and decks offer views of the shipping channel and Portland Head Light. The rooms are large and gracious and many have their original brick fireplaces. This home was listed at $5.995 million a couple of years ago but now sits at $4.75 million.

"The shingled home was built in 1915 ..."
Was it originally shingle then done in stone, as it appears today, or was that a typo? The original Shelburne Farms residence (today used as the Inn), for example, in Vermont was shingle style however the harsh winters did so much damage it was reskinned with brick as it appears today.
My architectural pet peeve is that I cannot stand obvious garage doors as part of the facade of a home. I suspect this attached arm was a somewhat more recent add-on (relative to the 1915 build date of the home) where as there is also a detached structure as well perpendicular to the home which is less obnoxious.
