Who cares? I am still trying to understand why in the good old USA we have to provide a decent meal for 10's of 1000's during Thanksgiving and Christmas.
And yes, I know many people are just lazy, however a good percentage just cannot do anything about their condition.

You can give money until you're broke. There will always be poor. It is a sad reality. Even though it is said that "..all men are created equal", it's just not so. Life is not fair and everyone cannot (and will not) join hands and go along with the plan. The ones who are able should help those who are afflicted, give opportunity to those who will help themselves, educate those who are able to learn and try to better the human condition. Try as we may, we can lead the horses to water,....we just can't make them drink. Of course, then there are the moochers. That's a whole other story.
