Dramatic Indoor Treehouse Eatery Opens in Vegas

Architect David Rockwell has constructed an 80-ft. tall "treehouse" inside Crystals at Las Vegas' $8.5 billion CityCenter to house a dramatic new eatery called Mastro's Ocean Club. Guests enter the restaurant through an elegant portal of wood-lined lowered ceilings and meandering walls into a dining room featuring curved white leather booths and banquettes accenting hand-crafted mahogany beams and sapele wood. On the dining terrace, Mastro's offers views of the angular shapes, towering ceilings and the unique artistic elements of Crystals. The signature grand bar and piano provide a livelier, energetic dining atmosphere with live entertainment seven days a week. Crystals is the nucleus of CityCenter, located on 67 acres between the Bellagio and Monte Carlo resorts on the Las Vegas Strip, features several hotels, entertainment venues and luxury boutiques.

Obvious question: Is the food any good?
shieldsbrown Feb 13th 2010 1:45PM
Please. Toronto, Eaton Centre, 1970, same thing.

I was there last night. All I wonder is how long it will take for the City Center to go bankrupt. Every single store is catering to the very rich. Watches for 100 grand, rugs for 50 grand....
The place is gorgeous, don't get me wrong....but a total waste.

another dubia world venture, made possible by the increase in oil prices, it was not that long ago we had $18 dollar a barrel. brings me to the fact that our economy tanked from the energy policies of our government, not the to big to fail banks.
Yanni Feb 16th 2010 7:39PM
Did some moron really just sayt, "Another Dubya world venture"?
I live here in Vegas. Bush had NOTHING to do with this city center.
It was HARRY REID.....yes...HARRY REID who went and begged the Saudis and and the fine folks from Dubai in order to have this built.
When are you retards going to stop blaming bush for things you obviously have NO CLUE about? Attempt, for once in your lives, to seek the truth.
And for your information....one of the reasons that Harry Reid's poll numbers are in the mud here and he will not be re-elected is because he built this piece of crap for 8.7 BILLION DOLLARS.
Democrats love to spend money!

I guess I was misinformed, Dubia world has no ownership position, oil was not $18 a barrel and not a factor in the tanking of our economy. Now that I have read your post I have the correct info lol, who even mentioned boy bush?

A contemporary wood & leather bar and dining room. Okay. But "treehouse" is a stretch.

If the food is even half as good as Mastro's Ocean Club in Scottsdale Az you will be pleased. Service and food is always excellent. I do suggest the seafood tower and don't leave without the melt in your mouth Butter Cake, one piece will do for a table of four. Bon appetit....

Interesting for a "mall food court"!

That sure is a weird looking restaurant

The pictures don't do it justice. The place is amazing to walk through and the live music definitely makes it interesting, which is something not common to the high end restuarants here in LV. It's not loud because of the open spaces and it's become quite a visual focal point. The food is something to write home about. The entrees are large in portion and very flavorful. You will definitely get value from the money spent. If you love wine and cocktails there is an extensive list to please any palate. That being said the atmosphere and the service are 2nd to none. Truly one of the best experiences I have had in a restuarant and I have traveled all over the country and the world for that matter. It's definitely an experience to be had.

Hmmmm..... Where's the tree??? A restaurant named Mastro's OCEAN Club, in what they call a treehouse? It certainly doesn't look like a treehouse that I would ever invision in my mind as being one. It may have wood components, but it ain't in no tree.

i Love Vegas

I saw that treehouse when CityCenter first opened. Didn't know it was supposed to be a restaurant. Too bad Hawaiian Tropic is closing across the street.

Like Obama says dont waste your money in Vegas.

David Rockwell had almost nothing to do with the construction. The Tree House was designed by his firm, but not by him. It was fabricated in Norwalk, CT by WestWorks and installed at CityCenter by the Raymond Company.
