The Gear Ring by Kinekt

Men's wedding bands are, in essence, simplicity itself: a plain band of some precious metal or another. But some gearheads aren't inclined to embrace simplicity. They might go for a more original material, like titanium or carbon fiber, but short of repurposing a piston ring, that's about the extent of it. Until the Gear Ring came along.
Designed by Kinekt, the Gear Ring doesn't just look mechanical – it actually is. As you can see from the video after the jump, the tiny gears across the face rotate as the larger gears that form the upper and lower segments of the ring spin in opposite directions.
A fresh take on a timeless classic, or the mechanized complication of simplicity? That's a matter of taste. The ring is available for $165 directly from the designer. Follow the jump to watch a short video clip of the ring in action.

No thanks. Wearing obvious hardware is not my idea of a wedding ring, or any kind of jewelry for that matter.

@Cheryl...when I read your comment, I busted out laughing!!!! I pictured that happening in my head and OMG, I'm so with you!!! That thing would be in the middle of the street waiting for a transfer truck!

Cute! Put little diamonds on each the cogs' teeth, and I'd buy one! (It's a girl thing. :P)

I don't know what hand you were watching but there was no fungus on that hand or fingers.
The ring is dangerous. I would not want my man to wear it.

Buy your man a real gold ring.

Cool idea, but it's too bad the hand model has fat, hairy fingers. Yuck! It diminishes the appeal of the ring for sure.

I have a hard enough time getting my husband to wear his wedding ring. If he had this, he'd be taking it off and playing with it and most likely losing it!

I purchased one of these rings. It's nicely made and I really like it. However, it doesn't fit. The company told me that I could hold on to it while they needed 4-6 weeks to get larger sizes in stock. It's now well past that wait. What's more, they don't answer my calls or emails. The warranty is useless if they won't talk with the customer or issue an RMA within the first 30 days. I called within 24 hours of receiving my ring to let them know the ring didn't fit. I couldn't return it without their RMA. I've since sent inquiries from other email accounts. They answer those. Something very questionable is going on in Kinekt Design.
