Rare $25 Million Ferrari 250 GTO Offered for Sale

Ralph Lauren has one. So does Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason and some of the richest men in the world. Now you can get your hands on an extremely rare automotive icon, a legendary 1963 Ferrari 250 GTO being offered for private treaty sale by RM Auctions, at a price that could easily top $25 million. The car, chassis no. 4675 GT from an important Japanese collection, is one of only 36 250 GTOs originally produced and one of a limited few with Series II GTO bodywork. In 2008 British real estate baron Bill Ainscough reportedly sold his 250 GTO for about $28 million to an anonymous tycoon, making it the world's most expensive car. "The Ferrari GTO is unquestionably one of the most iconic and coveted cars in the world," notes Max Girardo, Managing Director of RM Europe. "This is truly a rare occasion for collectors to acquire such an important piece of automotive history."

And people are starving around the world! Including here at home in the good old USA.
David Feb 15th 2010 8:53AM
Well, that is NOT his fault. Do you ever go out to eat outside the house? If so, why? When there are starving people around the world. It is his money and he can do whatever he wants with it. If parents can not afford to raise kids, they have NO business having kids. How about teaching the poor and hungry a thing or two about birth control.

I tried to post this a couple days ago, but this car ISN'T the most valuable car in the world. The Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost makes this car look like a vega. It's last value was over 60 million and that was a few years ago.. And it has to be DRIVEN to the car shows it attends...
swhitegas Feb 12th 2010 12:16PM
You have got to be kidding! A car for $25million - something has gone wrong with our world! I am dumbfounded!
David Feb 15th 2010 8:53AM
How about paying millions to atheletes? That is also stupid.
Brady Wilson Feb 12th 2010 12:35PM
I do not understand how a car is worth 25mil. It is beyond my comprehension. If i had that much money to spend it would be spent helping improve the poor.
R. Giteles Feb 15th 2010 9:47AM
Thats why you don't have $25 mil.

WHERE DO YOU PARK IT IN NEW YORK CITY?
rodney Feb 26th 2010 5:29PM
In a garage.

Well it looks suspiciously like a 1968 Corvette Stingray, or perhaps the 1968 Corvette Stingray looks almost exactly like a 1963 Ferrari 250 GTO ? Hmmm..

Looks more like a Jaguar XKE to me

This car is the shape that started it all,...... classic, Vette, 240-Z, Porche 924/944/928,..... even the new Ifinity coupe.

Why would you want to help the poor? They get enough handouts. Life is too short. Enjoy it while you can.
David Feb 15th 2010 8:53AM
I agree!!!!

You can Gen'l Motors...excuse me, Gov't Motors for 25 Mil.
Gil Feb 12th 2010 6:16PM
Pretty straightforward. It's worth $25,000,000 because someone will pay that much for it. Hopefully, it won't be someone who was bailed out with our tax dollars. I wouldn't give more than 10 mil for it myself.

THE ITALIANS BELIEVE IN EXTRAORDINARY EXPENSIVE CARS. THE FERRARI AND THE BUGATTI AT 1.35 MILLION. WONDER HOW MUCH THEY HAVE RACKED UP.
loanwiz2 Feb 12th 2010 10:53PM
This is a piece of automotive art and history. It is one of the most beautiful designs ever put into production (limited as it was). Can you appreciate it for the incredible beauty, design, craftmanship and yes, exotic nature? Many things are priceless, it doesn't mean they take away from the social well being. Indeed, they usually add to it! Leave envy behind. Be happy with what you have and do-celebrate love and kindness-don't begrudge others for their hard work and judge them for how they spend the proceeds. The same person that ends up buying this may be a great philanthropist.

Dear LoanWiz2
Loved your comment, "The same person that ends up buying this may be a great philanthropist."
Exactly.
I grew up in a small town in Oregon where the necks were red (I love 'em still) and people with money were all viewed as unethical *ssh*les (pardon my french).
It's taken me a while to deprogram all of that false information and to allow myself to create a life where it would be ok to be wealthy.
One thing I heard along the way made total sense to me. If a jerk gets a lot of money, it just makes him more of a jerk. If a good and philanthropical person gets wealthy he can do more good with it.
Dead on.
So forgive them for indulging themselves for their hard work. Who knows how many jobs they've created, how much taxes they pay or how much they have given to the poor in secret.
We all fit in to this matrix somehow. Be grateful that there is some rich guy who started the company YOU work at so that you and your family aren't one of the poor ones.
Submitted for your consideration.
