Scarlett Johansson Lists Her House At A Loss
It might be tempting to think that Scarlett Johansson has it all. She's gorgeous, has a big career, a funny and handsome Hollywood husband in Ryan Reynolds and the world is at her feet. One thing our heroine won't have it seems is a profit on her Los Angeles home. The Real Estalker reveals that while Miss Scarlett bought her home in the Outpost Estates area of Los Angeles for an even $7 million in 2007 she seems willing to take a deep loss on the home. The home is now listed at just $4.995 million with Brett Lawyer of Sotheby's.The home is a Spanish style estate built in 1931. The gated home has been restored and updated with upgrades that include solar electric. The first floor has rooms that open to a giant center atrium with a glass ceiling and tiled floor. The home's charms include a chef's kitchen with a colorful "period-style" kitchen featuring retro-styled appliances. The home also includes a media room, gym or maids room with full bath, extensive basement areas. It's a gorgeous colorful home with Southern California details like arched windows, beamed ceilings and wood floors. It also has the requisite lap pool and spa with a tranquil hillside view. Hard to say why she's moving on and willing to take such a big price hit but someone should be willing to snap up the home in this celeb-friendly neighborhood, which has been home to Charlize Theron, Felicity Huffman and William H. Macy, Orlando Bloom, Ben Stiller and director David Lynch.

Oh goodness, I could decorate that house much more tastefully if I had the money. What a shame those nice large rooms house such dreadful walls and furniture.
MR.RICK Feb 8th 2010 3:12PM
everyone has their own taste. im sure your taste isnt considered a shame and hers shouldn't be either.
Jules Feb 8th 2010 3:17PM
I couldn't agree more! UGLY UGLY UGLY! Whats with those hideous colors?! Yikes!
Mike Giansanti Feb 8th 2010 5:13PM
I'm with you Carole Ann...

These are obviously old realtor pictures. Ms. J. wouldn't let her home be photographed with personal items for a sales brochure!

I think the house is quite lovely. I am not a fan of the green, but to each his own. It's an easy fix. I think she has kept the integrity of house quite well. I love the hardwood floors, they are to die for. Love them!!
tammie Feb 8th 2010 3:08PM
totallllllllllllllllly agree!
Dan Stuart Feb 8th 2010 3:23PM
I wouldn't buy that ouse on a dime unless I would put a lot of money into it to change some of the awful remodeling jobes she perpetrated on a great house
rick Feb 8th 2010 3:34PM
What house? I was looking at Starlette...oops Scarlette. She is so beautiful who needs to decorate when she is in a room, she is the decoration...
David S. Feb 8th 2010 3:33PM
You people are nuts -- the house is awesome, especially the outside area and it appears to be nestled in privacy, another plus. As to the inside decorating choices, get a life, people. Deocrating is an individual choice -- I am sure some of the decor in your home would make others cringe. This is L.A. -- it is expensive to live in most parts of it anyway. People live there primarily because of the weather -- if you all want to continue to dig out of snow every winter, then be my guest.

That's okay David-I'll take my Baltimore Harbor Maryland condo anyday. At least Marylands not broke-even after all of the plowing. Lovely home though.
Susan Feb 11th 2010 7:28PM

and what is with the HUGE planter on the dining table. styling for photo notwithstanding, there has to be some raison d'etre. and of course it is the poor design that is keeping it from selling, not just the market of late. too bad.
Jack Feb 8th 2010 3:51PM
Well if she bought the home in 2007, as the market was already heading down, and continued dwonward until today, average dip on value over more than 40% since 2007, then the real price should be closer to $4,200,000.00 list price, and should sell between $3.75 and 4.0 mil today. She is still listed to high and her agent needs to tell her that, get her under $4 mil and you may get a sale!
DAVID Feb 8th 2010 3:57PM
Oh my and only one sink in the bath room, please so out dated .
KT Feb 8th 2010 6:34PM
Look again .. there are two sinks.
That's a beautiful old Spanish home.
It's certainly no faux Tuscan McMansion.
Anthony Loscalzo Feb 8th 2010 4:21PM
WHo wants such a big house? It would be like living in a train station and you'd need servants to care for it.
al schrader Feb 8th 2010 5:14PM
Looks like my secret is out. The best house is not the big ones that take you on a travel tour to walk around in it. Right size is what I call it & I perfected it with human factors engineering. Everything in it is designed to be easy & comfortable. Even the furniture legs are padded so that your toe wont stub. I call it an easy comfort home. Sorry, you can't buy one because I aint selling them. Maybe after I go to the astrophysics lab in the sky you could buy this one....Alfred-
