Emocean Design for World's Largest Yacht to Beat Abramovich

Roman Abramovich's recently launched Eclipse is currently the world's largest private yacht at a whopping 557 ft. His oceanic supremacy may be short lived however, as Belgium-based Emocean Yacht Design has just unveiled plans for a 656-ft. gigayacht (above) which would put the the oligarch's new toy to shame. Like Emocean's 541-ft. design for the UK's Devonport Yachts to be featured at the upcoming Abu Dhabi Yacht Show, the 656-footer is a completely bespoke design, with equipment, styling, configuration, and class tailored to the desires and tastes of the client.
The monstrous but attractively styled vessel features a drive-in garage, two 98-foot day boats, helipad and hanger, a 100-ft. swimming pool, nightclub, casino, games room, two-level cinema, three beach clubs, a health spa, and 10 VIP rooms, 22 guest suites and a private owners deck accommodating a total of 45 passengers, along with 70 crew. Even at that size she'll be impressively fast, with a planned maximum speed of 28 knots, a cruising speed of 20 knots and a range of 6,500 nautical miles at cruising speed. No price has been mentioned yet but expect it to clock in at well over $500 million.

Haiti was a shity country before the quake and its still a shity country. You can't fix stupid with all the money

If you check history you will find that Haiti has been in debt to France for years. They borrowed tons of money and blew it, rebuilding nothing. Altough they are still making payments they will never be a place worth visiting or rebuilding. They failed to do it when they had the money and will squander away what ever they get again. A area with 80% + AIDS, no amount of money will fix that. We should worry about our own people and not worry about how someone of wealth spends theirs. If they want to build a Mega Yacht then spend the money and employ the people willing to work and earn a paycheck.

Man, I could sure go to Burger King a lot with that kind of money. Might even buy myself a Burger King and build a bedroom onto it.

Monty is the only poster that makes any sense at all. The "trickle down" economic effect a project of this magnitude is unbelieveable. Don't know the owner of this boat, but the owner of the largest private yacht to date (Abramocich) has donated over 1 billion to various charities. How do you know that the owner of this yacht hasn't done the same? BTW if you're going to call someone a "buffoon", learn how to spell the word. I'm a captain and have run on several yachts that wre worth over 20 mil, and most of the owners were generous beyond a fault.
DES946 talks of "obscene wealth". Des, its all relative..if you have a net worth of of $10k you are obscenly wealthy to the average Haitian.
Here's a link to the guy who currently has the largest yacht.http://philanthropy.com/blogPost/Philanthropists-Emerge-in/14276/ :

The person who can afford this yacht probably employs hundreds and maybe thousands of prople in the endeavours that produced enough money for him to afford the yacht. Likely he donates to many causes like Haiti. But I just can't get past the point that in a free-market capitalistic society, if the money was legally earned, he is free to spend any portion the government does not steal from him in the form of taxes on whatever he wants to.
