Emocean Design for World's Largest Yacht to Beat Abramovich

Roman Abramovich's recently launched Eclipse is currently the world's largest private yacht at a whopping 557 ft. His oceanic supremacy may be short lived however, as Belgium-based Emocean Yacht Design has just unveiled plans for a 656-ft. gigayacht (above) which would put the the oligarch's new toy to shame. Like Emocean's 541-ft. design for the UK's Devonport Yachts to be featured at the upcoming Abu Dhabi Yacht Show, the 656-footer is a completely bespoke design, with equipment, styling, configuration, and class tailored to the desires and tastes of the client.
The monstrous but attractively styled vessel features a drive-in garage, two 98-foot day boats, helipad and hanger, a 100-ft. swimming pool, nightclub, casino, games room, two-level cinema, three beach clubs, a health spa, and 10 VIP rooms, 22 guest suites and a private owners deck accommodating a total of 45 passengers, along with 70 crew. Even at that size she'll be impressively fast, with a planned maximum speed of 28 knots, a cruising speed of 20 knots and a range of 6,500 nautical miles at cruising speed. No price has been mentioned yet but expect it to clock in at well over $500 million.

I am very happy this person and others have this kind of money, if I worked for a company and making enough to pay my bills and put food on the table I am happy if the owners make billions, I'll still be making money. I am retired, I receive 1,100.00 a month, I pay 232.00 for insurance, I own paid in full a beautiful home on a large amount of land, I own paid in full a kind of new car and truck, the biggest pay I ever received per hour was 10.25. I lived on what I made and was happy the owner made millions. It's not the owners fault people. it's the peoples fault for not living on what they make. I just hope we ger odama out of office before he stops the owners from making the millions. M2Cents

Sell it to some primitive Arab sheikh and watch Somali pirates taking it and throwing the sheikh back... too small.

i am not by far a billionaire but i have an uncle who is and as i have learned over and over throughout the years, they give alot of money to charity. not only that, these wealthy people that i know and am related to get up extremely early and come home very late and work very hard and they deserve every penney, i wish i had their nohow and drive. as far as i am concerned they can buy any toy they see fit.
robert randall Feb 6th 2010 4:56PM
Or you COULD save a lot of money; just buy a sign that says "Compensating for a micro-penis."

I like to believe I am compassionate person. The thought of starving people grieves me.
But I am also the kind of person, that thinks we should not overlook the realities of the world in which we live.
One could site an example of many countries around the world, I will use Africa as it is in the news everyday and the problem of starving people has been a major issue for Africa for many, many years.
To start, people have no food, the call goes out to help feed the poor children, money is raised and sent, and many times the money and food really does get to the people that need it. So now they have more food, what happens, they have more babies, and in a short time they have once again out striped the resources. And are in need of help again. We help and once again the population grows to a point it can no longer support itself and we help some more. This goes on and on, and we think we are helping.we are really helping them to a very bitter end. When the day comes, and it will. That the rest of the world cannot help anymore. and then my friends you will see starving and fighting, for what meager resources that remain, death and carnage that the modern imagination cannot comprehend. This vicious circle must stop.
so that is my two cents

monty seems to be a thinking person(so few). the jobs and income generated by this yacht or yachts is uncalculable. those that deny this and say give it away are idiots. Their prez is excellent at giveaways and poor poor poor at creation of viable gains. give me the billionaires on yachts traveling the world, creating work, and investing all the while. fools think it's all about pleasure, never considering what these people contribute to the worlds economy. Much more than obama can even contemplate. Work creates wealth, Americas liberals should try it, what they're doing certainly isn't working, even for the poorest.

I say buy Haitians contraceptives for that $500 million and save us all a lot of trouble!

When the government gives a citizen something that they have not earned, they must FIRST confiscate it from another citizen that has earned it, with a threat of imprisonment or fines, that is slavery.
The recipient is a slave to the government as they will BECOME DEPENDANT while losing the ability to be self sufficient.
The citizens that lost the earned assets is a slave because they are being forced to work without the pay that was earned.
That is the essence of communism and socialism, which has failed every time.
Every European nation currently engaged with experimental socialistic policies also have unsustainable economic plans that will fail under the weight of huge deficit spending. They call it priming the pump but the well is dry on that policy. It will always fail economically.
It will never work in a Democratic Republic when the voters figured out how to help themselves to the national treasury by electing politicians that have figured out how to stay in power by looting the treasury on the backs of the producers.
The future is looking dim for this country and only a thinking, unselfish and educated electorate will be able to change the course of our Titanic.

Dear Monty, Kevin Wexler and Tony:
Thanks to your creative criticism, I see the error of my ways! We should return to Feudalism, where people like me who don't have $500 Million for a yacht should become the property of the Masters who have $500Million and spend my entire life laboring to make the super rich, super richer.
By the way, I am not a "Liberal Puke", rather I am a CONSERVATIVE!
Tony, go back to school and learn some basic English Grammer!

The only real problem here is that some people work their tails off all their lives and can't even pay their bills because of mega millionaires who use slave labor to build their 600 ft $500 million boats. That's the only problem I have with it. And the spending that really drives the economy is not from the megarich but from the masses, the blue collar, most of whom do not have anymore money to spend because they are in survival mode.

Instead of helping Haiti, and granted they need help, why aren't we helping New Orleans. They are still suffering after 4 years. My question. Have the levies been repaired???
Joseph Leslie Feb 8th 2010 4:27PM
I disagree with all of the above comments. First of all, this thing will be longer than 2 football fields. That is not an accomplishment, it is a waste of resources!
Secondly, if bigger is better, who did more for mankind, John Holmes or Haryy Reams? If bigger is better?
Creating 70 jobs is lame. If you build 1 $600K Bentley you don't create as many jobs as you would by buying $600K of Chevrolets and besides, those 70 jobs will be filled by people from 3rd world countries, not Americans!!
If you use the money to create necessities for people versus things like cigarrettes and handguns, you are making the world a better place.
Why not build a 150 foot yacht and use the difference to help children who need surgery for cleft palates, hare lips, spina bifida and other medical conditions!
This thing will be as long as some aircraft carriers and will probably be a hazard on the open seas and at any harbor it tries to dock!

Very impressive. After seeing the ship's design I can state:
The new owner, aside from big money, and big ego, must have a small dick.
In addition, I quote Balzac, "Behind every great fortune is a crime"

well people i agree with the haiti problem they are just pocketing the money hell so is everyone else. what makes that country any different then our own.the working man or at least the man who still has a job can't get any loans even though the bills are payed on time and good credit. oh but our economy is in ruin so how are we supposed to get it back on track if our own country won't let us help it's self.oh but it's ok to give billions away like it's nothing but we can't get any money ourselves. oh but we sure have to pay for it in the end don't we america.

Dear ssflashon:
Hungry, homeless people are easily recruited for armies, homicide bombers and 911 hijackers. The best way to make your enemy helpless, is to feed them, make them homeowners with mortgages and families and wives who want big screen TVs, new cars, new clothes and breast implants. If the Taliban had this going on they would be so busy praying to Allah for raises and bonuses.
As it is now, they see no future and have very little to make them too busy working to pay bills that they couldn't engage in guerilla warfare. My head is not in the mud!

This boat looks nice to me - I might be interested in one only a little bigger.
