Visited the Kavalan factory in Yilan County the other day. Nice little factory tour and a small sample afterwards. Little confused about their mission of providing a locally produced whiskey for the country's increasing number of whiskey drinkers (as per the tour soundbytes); the Kavalan brand runs $60USD at the low-end, when $10 will get you a bottle from any 7-11. Most of the whiskey drinkers I know here are the old fella's in the quick-fry places who would clearly opt for the lower price, even with a local alternative.
