DEX NEW YORK Modern Minerals Makeup

DEX NEW YORK Modern Minerals MakeupSoon after I wrote this post on mineral makeup, I heard from DEX NEW YORK Modern Minerals, and that e-mail has changed my life, cosmetically speaking. I have tried mineral products (Bare Escentuals/Bare Minerals) and mix and match them with other products. While the BE line met most of my expectations, I wasn't entirely thrilled.

I was kindly offered a few samples of the DEX line, and I tried them, and loved them, immediately. As compared to BE, the DEX products are gentler, more moisturizing, and wear longer. I especially like the gel eyeliner, which applies in seconds and then doesn't budge. The eye shadows and blush also stay put all day and night, but everything washed off easily. The colors are fun and vibrant, as you would expect in a mineral line, but you also can get more subdued, natural colors.

All the colors are named after iconic streets (Wall Street Onyx, High Line Metallic Blue, and Schubert Alley Cantaloupe), music-filled neighborhoods (Harlem Nights Sapphire, The Met Star White, Rockefeller Gold), idyllic New York getaway spots (Sag Harbor, Montauk), and even once-existent notorious nightclubs (Twilo, Limelight, Studio 54).

DEX Modern Minerals are hypoallergenic, cruelty-free, and eco-friendly, using already recycled packaging materials and refillable, magnetic portfolios for repeated use. The mineral powder makeup formulations are talc- and paraben-free. There are products for skin, eyes, and lips, as well as brushes and accessories. Prices range from $16 - $100.

DEX New York introduced DEX Modern Minerals with the launch of the Beauty Atrium. "I created DEX New York, first with every woman in mind; I wanted to offer red-carpet makeup and hair services that [are] normally only done for celebrities and models in a glamorous but approachable photo production environment," says Phillip. "The creation of the DEX Modern Minerals makeup line was due to the fact that the beauty industry was lacking a professional line of 'camera-ready' mineral makeup that was also fun and colorful while not damaging [to] the skin."

DEX uses restorative DEX Peptide Complex, which combines a matrix-fibroblast stimulant with palmitoyl hexapeptide-14 and a plant-derived extract (peat) to maximize skin's regenerative properties, acting as a wrinkle reducing agent with collagen-production stimulating abilities. DEX then blended the complex with 24k colloidal gold to allow efficient penetration into the skin and aid in the products' ability to stay on the skin without drying the skin's surface like Bismuth Oxychloride.

Phillip's DEX New York Beauty Atrium and Studio is quickly becoming a New York fashion and beauty destination at the heart of the city's fashion district (224. W. 30th St., between 7th and 8th Avenues). Offering services by a team of professional makeup artists, stylists, and photographers, the 6,000-square foot beauty-production facility provides everything a woman, photographer, makeup artist, or aspiring model will need to turn into a superstar, including makeup application, hair services, bridal beauty packages, and more. DEX New York Studios is also a full-service photographic facility where bi-annual fashion shows, look book shots and TV show recordings continue to take place.
