Mercedes-Benz Reportedly Preparing C-Class Coupe and Convertible

For the past decade or so, the Mercedes-Benz CLK straddled the divide between the company's C-Class and E-Class. Now, however, Mercedes has brought the coupe and convertible back into the E-Class fold for the new generation (pictured above), leaving space underneath for a smaller variant. And if the latest reports are to be believed, Benz plans on filling that void.
With eyes on the BMW 1 Series and 3 Series coupes and convertibles, the new two-door C-Class is expected to arrive in about a year or two. Look for power coming in V6 form, with or without turbochargers, with the potential addition of a V8-powered AMG performance model and a possible hybrid variant as well.

I drove the MB C230 Kompressor coupe starting in 2002, and I LOVED THAT CAR!
It was a two-door hatchback with a back seat that folded down, and it sold for under $30,000.
It handled well, had good gas mileage, parked anywhere, and was not-too-big and not-too small. The hatchback was fabulous for groceries, and the car held more than more SUV's.
Then it was discontinued in the U.S. because they marketed it to 20-somethings, rather than to older adults, such as myself.
I hope this is what's coming back, but it looks like it's going to be a larger car and can't tell if it's a hatchback or not. :-(
