Richard Branson's Luxe New Retreat Near NYC

Sir Richard Branson's plans for a luxe new retreat in New Jersey, which we first wrote about back in 2005, are finally coming to fruition. When completed the complex will consist of a culinary center, resort, spa and private club called Natirar 45 minutes from New York City. Situated on a beautiful 500-acre estate that was once the King of Morocco's summer home, and centered on a historic 40-room 1912 mansion (above), the first phase of the property is the just-opened Ninety Acres at Natirar Culinary Center, housing a restaurant, bar / lounge, cooking school, wine school and working farm. The resort will open this summer with guest cottages, a media room, a 4,000-square foot swimming pool, tennis courts, fitness facility, croquet pitch and greenhouses. Horseback riding and fly-fishing will be among the activities on offer. The invitation-only Club at Natirar will give members unfettered access to all the property's delights. The plan is for Natirar to eventually be the first U.S. outpost of Branson's Virgin Limited Edition Collection of luxury retreats.

Gary- You think like that therefore you don't have like that. Change your thinking and you'll change your circumstances.

Hey Sir Rich, when you are sitting on that commode thinking up names....remember me!

I'm really tired of hearing about rich people and what they have. 95% of us are not rich and 99.9% of us will never be invited to this resort. I work my ass of helping people with disabilities and will never have enough money to take my children everywhere I'd like them to go. So stop rubbing the wealthy in everyone's faces, those of us who don't live in New York or LA are really tired of it.

Don't think rich invitees are happy people. You may have no idea of the turmoil they may be in. Quite a few of them maybe even contemplating suicide!
Suzq Jan 7th 2010 11:51AM
I really think that is a great idea. I'm far from being the so called elite, lucky enough to be invited. However, I have seen first hand when you open any resort or facility to the public how quickly a place can deteriorate. It's usually about the bottom line for the corporations that open resorts. They don't care who they let in as long as they have the money. Branson doesn't need it. He has every right to say who and who can not come to his resort.

"Money begets money as they say. The rich gets richer and the poor gets poorer." So what else is new? Rich people do not think the way normal people do. Normal, meaning people just trying to make ends meet and have a little on the side. Why do you think that New York investment guy was able to swindle so many rich folks, because he nurtured their greedy side. He was more a "Robin Hood" in a way. The only problem was he didn't share the proceeds. Now, if that guy put that money in homeles shelters, delapidated schools buildings, etc. to kinda balance things out, he wouldn't have been convicted. Instead, he fell victim to his own avarice.
