Brangelina Donated $333,000 Instead of Adopting More Kids
In addition to caring for their own six children, Brad and Angelina Jolie-Pitt just donated $333,000 to SOS Children's Villages, including $100,000 for two in Florida and Illinois (according to the Sydney Morning Herald). Merry Christmas!SOS Villages operates 500 villages in 132 countries, taking in children who have been orphaned or abandoned. SOS Villages are currently raising over 80,000 children. Each SOS Home has a "mother" and up to 16 children in it -- Angelina recently visited one such home in Chad, and she must have liked what she saw. Other celebrity supporters include the Dalai Llama, Leonardo DiCaprio, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, Johnny Cash, Pope John Paul II and Mother Teresa. Visit sos-usa.org to follow suit.
Having personally visited a Ritz-Carlton owned SOS Village home in Jamaica, I can see what the fuss is all about. I met some happy, chatty kids who might not otherwise have had much of a chance at survival. Click through the gallery for a peek inside an SOS Home.

How's about saving some of the children/families living with poverty within this country? Then I will commend your efforts.

Geez, last time I looked, both Florida and Illinois were BOTH in the USA. Next time try actually reading the article before sounding off. You might learn something.

You wrote " Having personally visited a Ritz-Carlton owned SOS Village in Jamaica, I can see what the fuss is all about. I met some happy, chatty kids who might not otherwise have had much of a chance at survival.".
I felt that this statement was a bit aloof and patronising. The Ritz does not own the Village. They are a major sponsor and we thank the hotel In1970 the SOS Children's Village Jamaica was founded with the initiative of Dr. Harland Hastings, Mr. John Rollins and the Hon. Heinz W. Simonitsch.

Angelina & Brad already donated more than $7,000,000 dollars this year before this...... It was in the papers and on AOL. How much did you donate?

I find it sad that so many people feel the need to criticize the generous people who are willing to do more than talk...what have they done to better this world...NOTHING!!! talk is cheap actions are better than words..put your money where your mouth is folks,,

".....including $100,000 for two in Florida and Illinois.."
perhaps you failed to notice the sentence above in the article you are criticizing...it appears they gave most of it to the U.S.A
I dont understand you people...is one child's life more valuable than another because of where they live????

$333,000 is pocket change for these people. Is that really the best they could do? I realize they have done something to help the poverty situation, but realistically, most of that money will go to the fat cats who decide how to spend it.

They could have also done nothing; or they could have bought a sports car or jewelry or artwork. At least they are walking the walk

Hey internet tough guy, have you looked up how much money goes to aid and how much goes to administration? How much did you give to charity in 2009? Sometimes makes me guess it's probably $0, but that's only because I don't count giving pocket change to bums and donating $1 at the grocery store check out.

Really, the last time I checked 330, 000 was a hell of a lot of money. I'm not quite sure I heard you, how much did you say you donated, oh thats right you didn't. You know it doesn't really matter how much money they have or how much you think they should have given (FYI it's been a lot more than 333,000 they have donated millions of dollars as well as their time over the past several years). There are several people with a lot more money and privileges that don't do a thing to help others. You can say what you want about our children here, I work in the field and see these children on a daily basis and can say from experience that suffering here in America, although sad, is not even close to what some of these children are suffering around the world. Have you ever thought about war in your front yard, maybe going out for a walk only to have bombs go off killing people right in front of your face or maybe even your home blown to bits in the blink of an eye. Our kids are so incredibly privileged here in America with school, clothes, running water, electricity, I think your mistaking not having a Wii or cell phone with our children suffering. If anyone is harming our children it is people who sit back and make comments like yourself that 330,000 was simply a tax break. How about thanking them for helping others and all the other humane things they do to help others. Maybe you need to look at the world through their eyes. Although sad, many of our children are at risk due to drug use on the parent's part or poor decisions regarding finances. Our Country hasn't always been in this financial position, what have we done for these children during times our Country was at it's richest. How about all these people losing their homes who you and I both know should have never purchased the home, why aren't these banks helping them out more God knows we bailed the banks out and their hanging on to the money like they actually earned it themselves. Money I had to give and continue to give through furloughs and cuts to my paycheck that by the way I still haven't received so much as a thank you from our government. Have you ever thought that most of our failures today are due to greed. Maybe we don't deserve the 330,000 dollars maybe they deserve it. Maybe if we weren't so greedy we wouldn't need help. Did you know that Angelina has been doing this for years, she has never forgotten the needs of these children while a lot of others were and still do. Why should she stop helping these children and people of other countries they will never have the opportunities that we have and will continue to have in the future. Our hardship is temporary theirs is a lifetime. Maybe we don't deserve the money maybe we shouldn't have put ourselves in this position to begin with. This was something that could have been prevented, why should she or anyone else stop helping those around the world because of our own greed and because of the position we are now in. Maybe you should help our children in the US there are a lot of things that can be done that don't take money. Maybe see what it's like in other countries you might just change your mind and find them as worthy as our children. Maybe she sees herself helping out the most needy not the most deserving as we often think we are.

why other people r so cold and like to criticize? like they give even one cent duh! just coz u don't like Jolie and Pitt u have to criticize? wow! also anywhere in the world if they want to give, it suppose to be fine and great since all human r God's creation. people who criticize r haters...think they're only creation of God. so selfish! United States has too many welth people, plus government who help and take of it...all I can say is...when God bless us, we should give and share, not to be greedy and selfish. those 2 stars and the others who give had to be commended...they give what they have earned and share it to less-fortunate...is ur idol does that? NOPE! tell ur jennifer aniston to give, instead of "flirting" with guys that even dump her. she got a lots of money too...why don't she give or share. St Jude is not enough...she don't have a children to worry about her money...those 2 stats (Pitt and Jolie) got children to worried about, not like ur idol that don't do nothing. darn...these people r so...forget it, not worth to say any words...I could say "stupid" but I know they arent...just be happy when others help...here or anywhere, those people r also children of God...not just YOU! DAMN!!! LOL (so irritating to listen to haters!)
