Morgan Freeman Gets A Jet For Christmas

One of our favorite celebrity pilots actor Morgan Freeman has a new toy for the holidays, a fancy new private jet. Gulf News reports that Freeman bought the SJ30 plane which was produced by Sino Swearingen Aircraft Corporation, a subsidiary of United Arab Emirates-based Emivest. Earlier this year as my colleague Jared Paul Stern reported, the SJ30 set a world speed record from London to Dubai in just 7hr 7 min including a fuel stop in Istanbul. The six-seater can retain sea level cabin pressure at 41,000 ft., reducing jet lag, and can fly more than 2,800 miles nonstop at speeds of up to 630 mph. It sells for approximately $8 million.
Freeman flew the plane from Los Angeles to Dubai to attend a a press conference at the Executive Flight Center at the Dubai Airport Free Zone to announce the sale of the new SJ30 from Emivest to Freeman. The Gulf News article says that Freeman is expected to stay in the UAE until December 27.

Does anyone suppose that ol' Morgan paid list for this non-American made plane. Nice going Morgan, the American companies don't need the business.
blakelyjaz Dec 25th 2009 8:04AM
... and let's not forget the price of gas to run this ship... enough to feed the homeless in a large city for a week or more!
conspicuous consumption at its best!!!
hey morgan, can you help with my mortgage payment that i'm behind on?
madisonme Dec 25th 2009 11:24AM
What American Company? What about the millions of Americans who buy foreign cars? I have a Chrysler, but I am always passed on the road by Japanese cars. I wonder if you have an American-made vehicle.
One other thing, was John Travolta's jet made in the U.S.A.?
rivetguns Dec 25th 2009 12:50PM
That plane is all American made here in San Antonio, Tx. I sold tools to the mechanics that work there. Sweringen's main investor is from Dubai.
Danno Dec 25th 2009 1:00PM
Madison - John Travolta's 707 was made in the USA, but it's a vintage aircraft (built in 1960's). That argument is two things - wrong and irrelevant. If an American company produced a product with similar properties at an equal/lesser price, and were willing to toss in the "perks" that he is probably getting, my bet is that'd he would buy the American product. That's on the aircraft manufacturers, not Mr. Freeman. Case of "don't hate the player, hate the game".
Blakely - why is it Morgan's fault that you're behind on your mortgage? When did it become his responsibility to feed people that are homeless for any number of reasons that he had no part in?

My sentiments exactly. Why in the world should the American public care, one way or the other, how a successful person spends his money? He has paid his dues and has the right to do what he wants with his finances, as long as it is legal. People please, let's stop the hating, and instead, be happy for those who "make it', in this world. Remember, jealousy is one of the deadly sins.

Now that's news worthy... I always wanted to know what is Morgan Freeman buying for Christmas, oops, I mean for the Winter Holidays, or what ever is popular these days.
Does any one knows that my local church gave 1,000's to the poor people who cannot even afford a CHRISTMAS dinner?
Sophia Dec 25th 2009 9:13AM
United Arab Morgan????? Why not United States?????
mary Dec 25th 2009 9:33AM
Wow I guess you would turn down a Porche. How about a 10 carat diamond from Africa. Mr. Freeman should be able to buy what he wants, when he wants, and how he wants. Merry Christmas

Mary, you are a Godsend (no pun intended). What does it mattr to any of these retards where Mr. Freeman spends HIS money? Who the hell are they, to determine where a person spends their OWN money anyway??? I think his last name (FREE MAN) should stand out more now, than ever before. XD
Enjoy, Mr. Morgan Freeman.

The Arabs are investors only, the Company is an U.S. Company located in San Antonio, Texas which employs 300 people and they also have another factory in Virginia. So, people should stop complaining, if the Arabs didn't rescue this company from bankcruptcy, many americans will be out of jobs today!!
George R. Horn Dec 25th 2009 1:49PM
Glad to see that someone does their homework before they make a fool of themselves. Yes the company is an American company that employs somewhere in the area of 300 employees.

Morgan is one of my faveorite actors, but one question---Was he ever young.???
Rick Dec 25th 2009 10:39AM
I never thought of that. Where WAS he when he was younger? Good post.
MR.RICK Dec 25th 2009 1:55PM
yes he was young at one time. look at a movie called brubaker. i believe its a clint eastwood movie set in a prison. i may be wrong about the lead. but its a very young morgan freeman in that movie
nikin78 Dec 25th 2009 9:47AM
It don't matter nowadays if he bought American or not. We don't really make much over here anymore. BTW Freeman can spend his money the way he wants. All you people talking about buying American need to look at over half the things in your house. Yes they are all made in China or Taiwan. If they were made here then they would have cost you 200% more. It would cost more because everybody in America wants to get paid more for doing a job that anybody with half a brain can do.
