New 9ff GT9-R could be the World's Fastest Car

If you're looking for the world's fastest car, this very well could be it. It's called the GT9-R, and it's the latest product from Porsche tuners extraordinaire 9ff. Although based loosely on a Porsche 911, little of the end product is shared with the existing sportscar. Instead the GT9-R packs as much as 1120 horsepower in a lightweight custom body for a top speed in excess of 414 km/h (257 mph), making it arguably the fastest car in the world – faster even than the Bugatti Veyron.
Although intended for use on a race track, the GT9-R (like the marginally less extreme GT9 before it) is fully street legal (in Europe, at least), and is available in 750 and 987 horsepower guises as well. Only twenty will be made at an undisclosed price, but considering the "base" GT9 cost half a million euros, make sure you've got enough left over for gas and tires.

Really? That's how you feel about foreign cars? Have you taken a good look at General Motors lately? The U.S. Government had to bail them out. Let me rephrase that- the U.S. Government had to bail them out with OUR money because they couldn't build a tricycle to save their lives. GM hasn't made a car really worth having (except maybe a Z06) since the 1970s. Ford has done little better. And Chrysler? I haven't seen anything other than a Viper or a Ram worth the money since the 1980's. I have a 1978 Dodge (which has the internals of a 1968 Dodge), a 1973 Super Beetle, and a 1982 Accord. And, out of the three, the Dodge is more fun to drive, but the Beetle and the Honda are by far the better everyday cars. BOTH of them average 30+ miles to a gallon of gas, and have more practical uses than a 2 door Dodge from the 1970s. How many GM, Ford, or Chrysler vehicles can turn over 300,000 miles and continue to be reliable and fuel efficient? I haven't seen any. Other than a Geo Metro. Which, might I add, is a collaboration between GM and TOYOTA, wasn't it? And, let's be honest, when was the last time any American car manufacturer set a "World's Fastest Car" record that wasn't referring to how quickly it fell apart after it left the show-room floor?

I had to chuckle...this car may be the "fastest" auto in the world, and entirely "street legal." LOL...Would anyone really exchange their Bugatti Veyron for this Porsche on steroids??? I am not sure you would be able to drive it over the lip of your driveway without totally scraping the entire bottom length of the car. What if there is a pebble on the road...BUMP! oooppps! And then there would be the quite understandable response of your neighbors who,as you drive that unique looking buiggy down the street, are seeing their already threatened home values fall even further from the (I am quite sure) noise pollution from revving it anywhere above 500 rpm...hehehe.

yes, I, too, wouldn't give this car a second look.

ok Porsche lets meet and see how fast your GTRR is or whatever it's called. I promise you my twin turbo Viper will smoke your car. I'll even give you a head start. Nothing compares to 1400 HP not even the world's fastest porsche. Anytime, anywhere I'll be more than willing to see your porsche in my rear view mirror all day long. There's nothing like a V10 with dual turbos blowing the doors off a porsche. Oh, and the car looks like an ugly Nissan GT-R, another slow car that claims to be so so fast. Please guys!!!!

The Veyron is no beauty contest winner either. They just had to put that stupid bugatti grill on the front. Looks like a pig, or a bat.

Doesn't aol have anything more important and interesting to write about than this useless hunk of metal that nobody can afford and which nobody could drive anywhere on this planet if they could??

LMAO at the comments about fastest car in the world. Dude, the SSC ultimate Aero holds the Guinness world record for that achievement, so why are they comparing it to the overpriced veyron. Half a MILLION$$ (is that pounds, euro's or dollars?) Because the SSC is faster than the 9ff in that same price range and is sweet too look at. Not that this body kitted 911 pos isn't an amazing achievement, it is, so credit where it's due they've made a great car, but the SSC was tested on a piece of crappy desert road and it went faster than any car before.. imagine what it would do on that VW test track that the veyron did it on. American Engineering is always going to be the best, because we can beat what others do for less. (not in the everyday auto field) but for records. the SSC has a pushrod twin turbo v8 making 1180 horse.. that's more. what's more is it's a small block aluminum v8 that's doing it and it's reliable, fairly simple to work on and you don't have to go through that ugly body kit to get to it. as far as black tie affairs go, you don't drive a bugatti to a black tie affair, you drive it to dinner with the Shiek to show off you have a lot of money and and no taste, just like them lol

The world's fastest car is the ThrustSSC which set the record at Bonneville a few years ago. It went 763 Mph (1,228 km/h) and broke the sound barrier.
