Lenny Dykstra's Patek Philippe and More at Auction

My colleague Deirdre Woollard has been entertainingly chronicling former baseball star Lenny Dykstra's travails in bankruptcy court. Now it seems the hard-charging athlete-turned-entrepreneur is trying to raise a little ready money by selling off some of his prized possessions. Among the lots at Patrizzi & Co.'s Dec. 14th Exceptional Watchmaking Masterpieces auction in NYC is Dykstra's 18K white gold Patek Philippe (above) made in 2004. The fine and rare annual calendar timepiece shows the phases of the moon and has a power reserve indication. Estimated at $28,000 - $ 35,000, it comes accompanied by a photograph of Dykstra playing with the New York Mets. Also included in the sale are two major pieces of Dykstra sporting memorabilia: a 1986 New York Mets World Series trophy and plaque, estimated at $18,000 - $25,000; and a Silver Slugger Award from 1993 with a Louisville Slugger bat and National League Player of the Week 1990 plaque, estimated at $12,000 - $16,000.
UPDATE: Dykstra's Patek sold for $28,000, on the low end of the estimate.

Poor, ex millionaire pro athlete. I feel so bad for him.
hmb0506 Dec 10th 2009 10:17PM
I feel for him, not because he was a athlete, he's a human being. Now what does he do??He has a family. A son in the minor leagues. It's a shame he didn't have
a worldly advisor. He was never really bright, a bit, lucky.A shame!!!!!!!!!!
Mike Dec 10th 2009 10:30PM

"To the author"
Your colleague has been entertainingly chronicling his demise into bankruptcy"
YOU SLIMY LITTLE WORM! How dare you write this "article" with such glee! This man made more of 10 minutes of his life than you will if you make it to 100 and you have the audacity to celebrate his misery? You're a heartless, soulless waste of space. Lenny was a decent guy without a lot of sense when it came to money, so he made some bad choices and it buried him financially, but as a former New Yorker, I watched him play with his diminutive frame with as much heart as any guy a foot taller and 100 pounds more. He had more guts and moxy than anyone you'll ever know and I idolized him as a teen in NYC. He taught me that it didn't matter if you weren't 6'2", you could still play ball, and while I never made it to the pros, I never quit, partly because I wached "Nails" give his heart and soul to keep up with the big boys. I bet you were the one who coined the joke "but other than that Mrs Lincoln, how was the play"?. I'd say this with more eloquence if I thought you had the education to keep up, but to put it in a vernacular you may understand...YOU SUCK AS A WRITER AND A HUMAN BEING! He who is without sin...

Wish I were as eloquent as you. You made my day.

You 're an idiot and a moron have you heard of freedom of speech? Lenny Dykstra is an asshole and a terrible human being he stole lots of money from his investors and instead of feeling sorry for them he's said too bad for them. So Lenny Dykstra doesn't care about the people he screwed then screw him. He's getting what he deserves, he thought he was so much smarter than everybody else well guess what nails you're not. As far as you get your head out of your ass and educate yourself first, everyone has a right to their opinion. At the end of the day you reap what you sow.

Yeah Sober ,

Anyone that would screw their own mother out of money and speak despairingly of women, blacks, and gays deserves all this and more.
deathfest84 Dec 11th 2009 12:51AM
i feel so bad for Lenny. he was my favorite ball player growing up and i still rate him as one of my favs. i really hope he gets back on his feet financially. Phillies forever, :-)

I'd give him enough money to buy a bottle and help him find a comfortable refrigerator box or a dry underpass for it.

We all know our past but not the future. You never know where you may end up. Whatever you wish for others may it happen to you.

I personally don't care. Not about Tiger Woods either. Rush Limbaugh doesn't have the balls to say what he really thinks, black men love blondes. It all amuses me so.
Vincent Dec 26th 2009 9:41PM
When Tiger Woods was the darling of the world he was Cablanasian but now that he's F'd himself and his family he's a black man all of a sudden. LOL
