Gangster Chic Ties from Duncan Quinn

Duncan Quinn, the London-born, New York-based menswear designer whose Savile Row-with-a-twist togs are favored by the likes of Sean Combs, Entourage star Adrien Grenier, LeBron James and alt-rockers Green Day among others, has come out with a new line of silk ties sporting gangster chic motifs to complement his killer new fall collection we previewed here. The designs (above) are partially inspired by Russian prison tattoos - think Viggo Mortensen in Eastern Promises - and are made of 100% silk handwoven in England, cut, stitched and finished by hand in New York City. A lot of Quinn's inspiration comes from the "long and well-recorded history of members of the criminal fraternity frequenting Savile Row for their sharp suits and other attire," the designer notes - the ones played by Michael Caine at least.

I don't know what kind of message wearing one of those would send to your colleagues or boss.
Jay Nov 27th 2009 10:48AM
Just plain UGLY. What are they trying to tell us?
Zack Nov 27th 2009 9:24AM
Wow dale, care to be MORE of an ignorant racist? Don't talk ever... you make the rest of us look retarded
and seriously, who will buy these? Sure some douche bag bro's who get chubbys watching MMA fighting, but do they count as people?
They're pretty ugly and cliche

FYI, I think these ties are for when people go out to a club or a party, not for work. Just because there aren't crosses and hold bible emblems on the ties doesn't mean that they are bad. There is nothing wrong with the ties with the rose and the sword. The other two I wouldn't sport but I know people who would. People need to realize that not everybody wants to be caught up in their Stepford wives world. You may think that is the way it should be, but that is not reality.

Isn't this "Special"? Seems like creativity has sunken to a new low!

LMFAOO I kno right Dale

Anymore blatant than that Dale and your "pointy head" hood would be showing. I think they are not what I will be wearing but not everyone has my taste, you included. However not everyone wants to be caught up in your 1950's white picket-fence, stepford wives, Ozzie and Harriett world. Go out into the world and see that it is darkening and you'll have to adjust or go back under your rock!
Dale Nov 27th 2009 12:07PM
I can see by your leap to an untenable assumption that you are an educated person...like Jethro Bodeen. If you had any education in literature, you would know that a "darkening" culture would refer to what we simple "hooded" people know to mean "morose, less inviting, and unfriendly" culture. Ever heard of a "black mood"? It doesn't have anything to do with race. Your eagerness to interpret a word that it well know (by truly educated folk) into one of racism speaks of your weakness to play into the "gotcha, I'm victimized " mentality of the simple minded. If I were to venture into that field, I know all the words that qualify. I've heard them in rap songs. Go peddle your ignorant dribble to the rest of your six grade graduation class.

Looks more like 'Biker" or tattoo art to me, and not too many Bikers wear ties, now, do they?

BAD TASTE IS EVERYWHERE, I CAN SEE A BOARD MEETING AT A LOCAL DRUG CARTEL AND A HEADLESS BODY ON THE TABLE AND A TAG LINE.
"NO BAD NEWS TODAY!"
"NEXT PROBLEM, PLEASE?"

When are men going to start dressing like men again and not overgrown boys!!!
The look from "Madmen" is the last time men really looked sharp and well dressed, I can just imagine the look you would receive walking down the street in a suit with one of those "loud" ties on, get real, NO ONE but thugs and wanna be's dress like that, the entire "rap personna" is sooooo over with, sideways caps, hanging pants, oversized sweat shirts, time to grow up guys and and get with the plan, clothes make the man, if you want to be treated with respect, dress like a man, not like a street thug or pimp!!!

slyder66666 Nov 27th 2009 12:42PM
WHERE IS THE MAFIA WHEN WE NEED THEM.? THEY ALL DRESSED LIKE THE COVER OF GQ MAGAZINE. THEY HAD STYLE AND TASTE AND YOU DIDN'T SEE THEM GRABBING THEIR CROTCH ALL THE TIME. BLACK FASHION IS A JOKE.

If I had enough money to afford anything by Duncan Quinn... I may may one of these ties.
