Donald Trump's Plane For Sale

A helpful reader directed us to a rather interesting listing, Donald Trump's personal jet. Trump's flashy Boeing 727-100 has shown up on the Controller website. Lest you have any doubt that it is his, the plane has the Trump T on the tail and a 30-foot Trump logo on the side done in gold leaf. A plane like this usually has 134 seats but this plane was reconfigured to hold just 24 passengers in the lap of luxury.
The 1968 vintage plane was originally operated by American Airlines according to Aviation.com. It has been refurbished with soft beige leather armchairs around a conference table. A separate dining area has seating for five around a wood table and additional seating on an adjacent upholstered sofa. A master bedroom offers a posh place for mid-flight nap.
The listing with AvPro in Maryland says it has new paint and is current with all avionics. It has logged a total of 41,833 hours with 29,664 total landings. Why is Trump selling? Is a new, even more lavish plane in the works, or is Trump, like the rest of us, feeling the pinch of a struggling economy?
UPDATE: CNN Money has a quote from George Sorial from Trump's organization who says that Trump is upgrading to a larger aircraft.
[Thanks, Jay!]

I can only imagine the hourly cost to fly that beast. There's nothing wrong with traveling in a G-V or G-VI, when it becomes commercially available. Besides in this market, I doubt he's jet-setting around the country, or world, cutting deals. Bankers like debt-coverage and equity, not flash.

Fuel cost is between $4000 and $5000 and hour, then there is crew cost maintainance, landing fees. Actually buying a Gulfstream 5 is much more economical and better suited with a lot of reconfiguration and has a little farther range. Most of the large planes like he currently has were used back in the day by bands like Beach Boys Beatles Bob Seger. Now becasue many of the concerts are within a couple hundred miles they used very seductive motorhomes some with paint jobs that cost as much as $100K at least from the guy in Kisseme FL There is a big company in Upper Michigan and one in Texas that redoes airplane for the super wealthy from all over the world

What do you mean "commercially" available? Anybody can buy any non-governmental aircraft if they have the $$$. Also, 1 interesting note....see the tail #, or registration number, not registered in the USA, to avoid taxes. The people who can afford to pay taxes always find ways to avoid them! What a scam.

Customer deliveries of the Gulfstream 650 are expected to commence in 2012. That's what I meant by commercially available.

Trump is probably upgrading to something newer. Maybe even getting a good deal because of the world recession. I can't believe this plane is over 40 years old. The detail inside is very impressive.

An aircraft of 1968 vintage quite probably is not the most efficient means of travel today, even with retrofits.. Perhaps a nice Gulfstream IV or V, or if his finances are really much improved a Bombardier Global Express (GE). For those that feel this is excess, clearly you have not seen the A380 that the Saudi King is having built!

THE DONALD, HAS USED OTHER PEOPLE'S MONEY, TO STROKE HIS INCREDIABLE EGO. HE IS A FRAUD IN MY OPINION, HE FILED THE LARGEST BANKRUPSY IN AMERICAN HISTORY, SOME YEARS BACK, NOW DO YOU REALIZE THIS COST INOCENT PEOPLE MONEY. HE MAKES MY FLESH CRAWL.

Who really gives a flying fart about extravagance for the purpose of extravagance and nothing more.

It is his money,he can spend it any way he wants.Unlike Nancy Pelosi who spends mine and your money to travel the same way every weekend.Just because she wants to work a 4 day week and go to California fromThursday til Monday morning.Unnlike the president and all of the senate who travel the same way with our money ,to promote their agenda, not ours

As a Commercial licensed pilot, totaly able to fly this bird, I have Multi-jet eng rating with a 1 st. class medical ticket totaly currant in F-16
and several B rated aircraft. I wouldent accept Donalds plane as a gift.
He should take the money and pay back some of the people he screwed out of Millions, then die

Trump is a poster boy for what is wrong with our company financially. Smoke and mirrors. If he says it's "huge" it must be. The pending commercial real estate plunge may find him with his rather large ego in his hand. Never too impressed with his plane, looked old sitting on the runway. His daughter is pretty sharp, but the rest of that crew is an empty cab.

HE'S IN TROUBLE JUST LIKE THE REST OF THE PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTRY. HE'S NOT GETTING ANOTHER PLANE, DIDN'T HE LEARN HIS LESSON ON GREED AND MATERIAL WEALTH.? HIS CASINOS ARE GOING UNDER AS IS HIS OTHER VENTURES LIKE THE JONES BEACH CATERER. HE'S COOKING TOO MANY POTS ON HIS STOVE AND HE IS GOING TO GET REALLY BURNED BY THIS STOVE.

Uh...Oh...I hear Pelosi has been eyeing this....Lastest she not happy with only having one private jet the Democrat from California, current Speaker of the House. The Pentagon provides the House speaker with an Air Force plane large enough to accommodate her staff, family, supporters, and members of the California delegation when she travels around the country. But, Pelosi wanted routine access to a larger plane. It includes 42 business class seats, a fully-enclosed state room, an entertainment center, a private bed, state-of-the-art communications system, and a crew of 16. Pelosi wanted "carte blanche for an aircraft any time," including weekend trips home to San Francisco . Pretty nice but very expensive perk! Her Air Force C-32 costs approximately $15,000 an hour or approximately $300,000 per trip home.. Cost to American Taxpayers 5 +million a year.. She only work 3 days a week.....But remember she wants us to down size to peepoppers to reduce carbon foot prints.....She may get this one for her billion dollar husband that owns StarKist Tuna.....But if this one has to stop to refuel that will kill the deal.. That's why she needed this new plane she was inconvenienced by fuel stops . Funny it was good enough for the Republican Speakers.. Go figure
