Disney Gets Into The Wedding Ring Business
A couple of years ago Disney entered the bridal market with a line of fairytale wedding dresses. The line is still going strong and now the designer,Kirstie Kelly is expanding into fine jewelry. National Jeweler reports that Kelly's new line of diamond wedding and engagement rings, "Kirstie Kelly for Disney by Mouawad" debuted this week as part of Bridal Fashion Week in New York. The line consists of six engagement rings with matching wedding bands that correspond to six Disney heroines, Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Princess Jasmine from Aladdin, Ariel from The Little Mermaid and Belle from Beauty and the Beast. The Disney rings are being sold as semi-mounts (center stone not included) and retail for $1,200 to $6,000.

You've got to be kidding? I can almost understand the wedding dresses, but rings too? Wonder who gets to line their pockets with the profits from this little idea?

I've never been a Disney fan simply because I see no excuse for their prices on Family activities. The prices charged are unacceptable. Very few ordinary American families can afford Disney. Candy Jones

I think it is so cool. How many girls/women out there wait for the right prince. And for those totally wanting a Disney themed wedding- they can. If the shoe fits or in this case if the ring fits. I am glad Disney did this. Every girl wants to be a Princess the day of the wedding- and now they can be if they want. I would never trade the ring I have but that is so wonderful.

It this flat economy I think this can be a good marketing tool for the Disney Company to make money, and they do have pretty names, like Princess Jasmine. However, I think a more complete list of the Disney Characters should be available for the rings. Goofy is a name that comes to mind for myself when I got married at the tender age of 19, and a ring to match would have been "cool" to have. (But it is 30 years later, and we are still married, so things worked out.)
Other Disney characters could add to the wedding experience in a positive way. For the Bride's "stag party" before the wedding you could have the group named after the cute Disney chipmunks. Thats right, you could host the "Chip and Dale" dancers........
The possibilities are endless. a cute play on words could be used for the wedding invitations with a picture of Mickey Mouse's girl friend on the cover. You could say "Minnie happy returns" in your greetings. And of course what better place than DisneyWorld to enjoy your honeymoon. Its a natural.

CANDY JONES..... maybe you should look at the price packages that are available presently. You can stay at the sports hotels for less then $80.00 for a family. Some packages now available include the park passes and the food. I have two family members that work there and the prices now are cheaper the it has been for years. Please do not miss the opportunity to share the memories that you will hold for a life time by thinking you cannot afford it. Just consider others places you will go and then pay for gas and food. There is no way to compare. Making a statement that they are to hight is without merit when you consider the safety, value and the memories you will have for a life time. Just look at www.disney.com and check it out.

I agree. I have always loved visiting Disneyland since before my first birthday, but the prices are really ridiculous. We have two free passes right now but can't justify paying for three more children's tickets and the parking there. I think Walt Disney would be horrified if he knew what they were charging. It was built so children everywhere could enjoy it, not just a rich few.

I agree with Candy. Disneyland is way too expensive, especially for the average family right now. We have two free passes but still can't afford the $300 for our children's tickets and parking. I think Walt Disney would be horrified if he knew what they were charging for admission. He built the park for children everywhere to enjoy and I really feel that philosophy has been lost over the time.

I totally disagree...
Disney's prices are reasonable when you consider what you get for your money. NO WHERE ELSE can even come close to the magical environment, shows, rides, and over-the-top customer service. The park allows you to bring in your own food and drinks (very few others allow this), and the specials they run for families are excellent. I have not (nor has any member of my family) worked for Disney, but would urge anyone to try to go. Our family has been a few times, and it is something we plan and save for...we save our change, have yard sales, and cut back in other areas...I know everyone can't do it, but saying their prices are ridiculous is very unreasonable...you get SUCH a bang for your buck there...NOTHING is spared to make your trip a memorable, magical one. I think Mr. Disney would be VERY PROUD.

I too disagree with Candy and Anita....
Disney right now is offering amazing deals for hotels and dining,....how much more do you want then a hotel on property for as low as $68 a night (in low season) and have your meals included?
also inside disney world the prices are not so outrageous.....it costs more money to spend the day at a cheesy six flags theme park where a bottle of water is $4
I go to Disney World 2 plus times a year and I notice every time how they are offering more and more packages/specials inside and out side the park for families to be able to enjoy
Disney world is really so amazing and every child and parent should enjoy it
of course people who can will still stay at the Deluxe hotels for $400 a night and do every extra activity regardless of cost....but that happens everywhere you go on vacation....i really believe disney does not only cater to those people

Their packages are awesomely priced. I have 3 uncle's and my father works there so we don't need to worry about paying for admission plus there's discounts and more so it's even cheaper for us. We live about 40 minutes from the Walt Disney World resort area. :) Thumbs up!

Are you kidding me...I think the prices are fine and I am a single parent with 2 jobs. A ticket for a football game costs as much as an all day ticket to disney...which is a better deal....football 3 hours disney all day?? Anita...just a rich few...are you kidding... ahve you been there...they are packed. lol. What you get for you money is an experience that cannot be matched at any other theme park. I think Walt Disney would be very very very proud of the length his parks go to.

I would have to say that disney world is wayyyy to expensive i went there for the first time in my life this year in march. Me and my fiance had never had the pleasure of going as kids because it was always..wait ...yah to EXPENSIVE for our parents for bring us. When we went it was 80$ a person there was 2 rides you could actually go on, none of the shows were going on that day except for a muppet show and a stunt show. They wanted 9$ for a pizza the size my hand..It was absolutley rediculous..I live in massachusetts and im sorry disney world is legendary but 6 flags is 10 times better.. They have a bunch more rides, shows and they dont charge you a days pay just to get in

Considering the gross stereotypes they perpetuate through movies and televsion-especially about "being a girl" they SHOULD be marketing engagement rings-I mean haven't they essentially done that all along? They should sponsor women's mental health and reproductive clinics next. Britney and Lohan can be first in line.
I think the last thing that we should be teaching our kids is that they should look/act/expect to be "princesses", a man will let you live "happily ever after", that it is cute to trick or disobey adults, or that it is "cool" to love the Jonas Bros.?

I have to agree....I love Disney World. The prices may not be in everyone budget but that's why I only go once a year. We take about five kids with us and six adults and we visit two parks while we are there. It worth the money. Just try saving a little each month it will be worth it. If that's just not in your budget, just making it one of those things you have to do before you die. The kids will love it!

It is because so many of us have had such wonderful experiences at Disney. We think it is a great place and a vacation like no other. We take our kids there and everyone enjoys the same things. Moms and daughters hold hands, we reconnect.
Being young and innocent and loving Princesses is awesome. I'm 41 and I sill love them. And, don't forget there is other stuff there... Indiana Jones, Bear in the Big lue House, Star Wars, High School Musical...
