Barking Mad for BULLDOG Gin
Among the innovative new spirits we're finally finding time to catch up with is BULLDOG Gin, an ultra-premium gin handcrafted in London housed in a broad-shouldered charcoal gray bottle with deep purple hues and an iconic spiked collar. BULLDOG is quadruple distilled, triple filtered, and infused with the taste and aromas of its twelve distinctive botanicals, including poppy, lavender, and dragon eye - a cousin of the lychee fruit often heralded as an ancient Chinese aphrodisiac.
Made from traditional copper pot stills and a painstaking distillation process, BULLDOG exudes a smooth and harmonious texture with a distinctive flavor, with notes of fruit and citrus lending a refreshingly crisp character and balanced finish.
BULLDOG has enlisted renowned mixologists Somer Perez, John Freeman, and Michael Waterhouse to create some signature cocktails using the bold spirit:

For a "review" you are "finally finding time" to write, this is disturbingly close to the text from BULLDOGs website and not attributed as such.
Disappointing.

As a bartender, I don't buy into marketing hype and artisanal production methods. At the end of the day, the product speaks for itself. For the same reason that I advocate Smirnoff over Grey Goose and Absolut (see 2005 NY Times blind taste test that placed Smirnoff at the pinnacle of vodkas), I will recommend Tanqueray No. Ten to a customer asking for gin. Yes, it's a step up from the base standard, but the intricate layers of Tanq Ten come alive, whether mixed with tonic, in a martini, or on the rocks with a twist.
The take-away moral: trust your instincts, not your TV.

Being an American, UK based citizen, I first came across this gin at Tatler's 300th Birthday party where they were serving it in cocktails called Rule Britannia. I thought they were fantastic. Definitely a product that I will be buying in future.
