They commented that in the case of some Mercedes models, more AMG cars are built than the regular versions. So it's lost some cachet. Resale, a long time Mercedes quality, plummets like a rock with most special versions, because they are fashion accessories that go out of date rather quickly. Case in point is that you can buy a virtually identical 2004 G55 for the mid $30K to low $40K range, while a new one will set you back $120K.
