David Tutera Unveils $500,000 Wedding Gown

The grand finale at the "David Tutera by Faviana" wedding dress collection runway show on September 22, 2009 at Gotham Hall in New York City was a real showstopper. The dress, shown above, is a one-of-a-kind platinum wedding gown. The gown includes a platinum-colored tulle veil and bouquet to match. It is drenched in jewelry drama with 10 feet of platinum chain, 33 carats of diamonds, 145.84 carats of aquamarine, white keshi pearls and topped with a stunning white south sea pearl pendant suspended from platinum. The dress was a collaboration between Tutera, a wedding planner and host of WEtv's "My Fair Wedding" and red-carpet jewelry designer, Erica Courtney. It is valued at $501,640 and is available for purchase at Michael C. Fina at 545 Fifth Ave New York, NY.

tacky. no amount of expense can cover this monstrosity!

My sentiments exactly. Ewwww... Is it so expensive because he had to cut up a dozen other dresses to make this one? It looks like patchwork.

John, You are so right, tacky, tacky! I wouldn't pay $5.00 for that piece of rag. I have seen such beautiful bridal gowns, on David Tutera's shows, that didn't cost nearly as much as that gown cost. I don't know what they were thinking, when they put that thing together, only, maybe they weren't thinking. Too bad, all that money went for naught.

I agree, but I also wanted to say if people placed more 'value' on making a marriage than having a wedding, the divorce rate wouldn't be so high. All of this money for ONE article of clothing that will only be worn ONCE. Also, the marriage may not even last a year.
I got married in 1992, paid 33.00 for a pair of shoes and that was my only expense. My sister provided the venue ( her backyard by the pool), my cousins decorated, my father in law catered, and my aunt bought the cake. My gown was a prom gown that belonged to a dear friend and I had that altered all free of charge. My flowers were donated as well. I had one matron of honor, my husband had one best man and wore his military uniform.
We have been married 17 wonderful years, and I look forward to many many more! LIFE IS GOOD

I agree, the dress is tacky and it makes her look fat to boot, I wouldn't cough up $500 bucks yet alone 500,000 for it.

How many children would that give a school breakfast to in the US alone? oh well, i guess people with this kind of money don't worry about the hungry kids in the US.

If someone can afford an expensive dress, that's fine and it's their business what they do with their money, but this dress is a flat out mess! It almost reminds me of an all white Christmas tree. "Let's see what else we can hang off of it"... Plus all the ornaments, baubles, ropes and bandage-like wrappings takes away from her figure. She has no waistline. I wouldn't be surprised to see a cord in the back where she can plug this garment into.

Where are the platinum-colored tulle veil with bouquet to match and the stunning white south sea pearl pendant? If they are going to show me what a $500k dress looks like to let me know it is okay to be poor (with taste), then show me the whole enchilada!!!!
dzynecats Sep 27th 2009 6:32PM
I was going to say the same thing, that dress doesn't look anything like they were describing. Even the color, Platinum. Looks cream to me. I can't see any diamonds or aquamarines, either
dzynecats Sep 27th 2009 6:31PM
Also, for the $500,000, they could buy a really decent house to start their marriage in.
Kristina Sep 27th 2009 2:26PM
TOTALLY UGLY....Remove the jewels, toss the dress, and find another wedding dress to wear......and wear the jewels with the new wedding dress.
Helen Sep 27th 2009 4:35PM
It is UGLY!!!! but anyone probably could get a replica at David"s Bridal Shop for a lot less money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
anhphotogirl Sep 27th 2009 2:37PM

Just another dumb, outlandish item that no normal person cam afford. No wonder we are in economic crisis. How about using the money for this gown to save 5 foreclosed homes? Just a thought....

It looks like SoCalsBeth has taken excpetion to my comment. It also looks like she has more than a passing knowledge of prostitution.
dickn2000b Sep 27th 2009 2:56PM
What does a $500,000 wedding gown look like? It looks like some dumb bastard spent a half million dollars to get laid!
