Win A Copy Of The Private World of Yves Saint Laurent & Pierre Bergé
It's not often that personal taste can be described as exquisite, it denotes a rare confluence of means and sensibility. But there's really no other word that describe the homes put together by late fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent and his partner Pierre Bergé quite so well. A new book, The Private World of Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé has come out from Vendome Press. The book by Robert Murphy with photography by Ivan Terestchenko is a sumptuous exploration of Saint Laurent and Bergé's multiple homes and expansive collections. If you've seen some of pieces from the collection which were sold by Christie's for record-breaking sums earlier this year then this is a chance to view the items in situ as they were used by Saint Laurent and Bergé. This is the sort of gorgeous coffee table book (280 pages, 11" x 12 1/4") that inspires dreams. We can't all afford the items that they did but the style, the way or arranging things and of pulling in various objects from different time periods and styles is something anyone can adopt.
Vendome Press was kind enough to send me a copy and I'm giving it away to one lucky reader. To enter leave a comment describing one of your most prized objects.

I believe my most prized "posession" is my canine companion Mickey. When I was at my lowest point in life I came upon him. He had a bad heart and needed someone to love him for as long as he was going to live expected to be only a few months. He gave me purpose and I gave him a home. We have been together 8 years now.
I learned the true meaning of priceless in the unconditional love I receive from him.

My most prized possession is my Kawaii upright baby grand piano. My parents bought it for me when I was 13 and I have spent 1000's of hours playing on it. This piano is a huge source of joy for me and it a focal point of beauty in my life.

French Maximalism at its finest. I would expect nothing less from a terrestrial genius such as YSL.

I have a dancer sculpture that was my grandparent's, it's really very lovely and graceful.
I have it in my library, it reminds me every day of my grandparents and their home, which was so relaxing and wonderful - filled with art and furniture and things they treasured, that they had collected through their lives.

My most prized possession... if the building was burning... and assuming that my husband was out first... I would want to grab the picture of my great-grandparents.

Don't you love how people don't even read... A family photo album, the only remaining item from my parents' life in Vietnam.

I love my catalog of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor's possessions. All books take you to a new world, like the one on Tony Duquette. I met all these people and dined with them when I was young
I never met Yves or Pierre so the book would be a wonderful way to meet them posthumously!

Most prized: Set of vintage Ping irons that were my Grandfather's when he died.

My most prized possession is a fairly large still life watercolor painting of anthurium. My grandmother (who had fabulous taste, and a fabulous mid century home) bought it from Gumps in San Francisco in the late 1940s and had it framed. The framing alone was 500 dollars and cost more than the painting and at the time it was quite a bit of money, but she had just built a new house and decided she need all new furnishings. It is the most beautiful watercolor I have ever seen, and even today it is so very modern and in style. The woman who painted it is a listed california artist, but I have never found anything else by her. I dont think its the most valuable object I own, but if my house was on fire, it would be the first thing I would save.

My most prized possession is an ivory chess set my brother gave me for my birthday.
He picked it up in Thailand many years ago (before the ivory trade was shut down).

A Rolex that my parents gave me for graduation… At the time, they were really busy with their companies and didn't have much time for anything. The fact that my parents took time out of their day to go pick-out this watch meant a lot. Our lives have calmed since that time, but the watch still reminds me of their love.
