Steve McQueen Ranch, Estate of the Day

Steve McQueen didn't live too long in this 15-acre ranch in Santa Paula, California but it does reflect a bit of the spirit of the King of Cool. McQueen and his third wife, Barbara Minty moved to the ranch in 1979 and were married in the home's living room in January 1980, sadly, McQueen died later that year. This ranch includes an 1892 house with unique details like stained glass windows and vintage fireplaces. The home has been updated since McQueen's time at the ranch and has a new kitchen and wine room. Some rooms, however, still look in need of a bit of a refresher.
The ranch's property includes three acres of Syrah vineyards, fruit trees, an equestrian facility and an airplane hanger where McQueen once kept his extensive car and motorcycle collection and his biplane. This property is listed at $1.95 million.

Some people obviously live in cheaper areas of the USA - a family home in Alexandria on NO land in the Kingstowne area (Virginia) will set you back for a new place $700K - they are way smaller than this, have no land at all, area surrounded by suburbia and roads. This place is a steal and looks very nice to me - I don't know what the people who think it looks un-kept are looking for, but a house this old will never look perfect, it's not meant to!
And yes, it is a ranch because of all the land and facilities - it's a small one, but still a ranch!
From the photos this house is someone's home - so let's hope another family moves in as the house looks like it has great heart!

The house is a 1892 home... of course it is not as a home is today, it has it's own personality and a one of a kind home. I think it has a lot of personality and is something I could live in. Look at the size of the rooms, that is something we dont see today. Not to mention the privacy and gorgous views. Steve is one who will always be remembered -- just to bad he died at a early age.

that is in no way a VICTORIAN home..The realtors are very foolish to call it that.. They did not build Victorians out in the desert...Nice place..nice property.. I wish I could afford half of it. That would be so nice out there with the mountains and privacy...Steve was a great actor and I hope he was as good as a person.

Although in my opinion, the town. Santa Paula is nothing to speak of, the outskirts are beautiful. This piece of property is a steal, even if it was not Steve McQueens.

i agree with Greg...the true "Tao of Steve" is evident throughout the whole property! no doubt its in need of a little tlc, but wow! its like you could almost see the ghost of the tough guy himself sitting at that picnic style table in the kitchen area! im in awe!

I can just picture Steve riding his Harley there. Just free and at peace to pass away has he saw fit.
When he filmed "The Get Away" his bike was brought to the hotel he stayed at in El Paso. When he was not filming, he would ride is bike on the roof of the hotel.
A good friend of our family played the part of the trash truck driver. He actually did that for a living and was asked to do the part. His name was Ceasar. He actually spent some time with both Steve and Ali. He said you could not meet a finer person than Steve.
He was just down to earth, didn't care to much for the lime light. That is the reason he rode his bike on the roof of the hotel.
RIP Steve. I wish I had the money to buy the property, just to live a peaceful life like he did.

Steve left us WAY too soon. If he were still around (he'd be 79) he would be a great actor (like Clint Eastwood) and be still thrilling us with his movies. While his features like "Bullit" and "The Great Escape" were showcases for his acting, if you want to see the REAL Steve McQueen find a copy of "On any Sunday." it's about motorcycles, racing and dirt riding and is like a home movie with Steve in much of it. Required viewing for any Steve McQueen fan.
This house shows us even more that he was a regular guy outside of his screen personna...
